Beschreibung

Hi, I’m Ruth, a 27-year-old photographer and surfer from the small seaside village of Scarborough in Cape Town, South Africa. I grew up in a lively family of eight kids where life revolved around the ocean, the mountains, being outdoors, and working together.

My whole family are avid surfers, all of us having competed as juniors, with a few national and world champions amongst us. Travel has become a big part of how I learn about people and places, particularly the kind of immersive travel that digs deeper than being a tourist. I’m Waldorf educated, which nurtured my love for creativity, practical work, and a strong connection to nature.

I enjoy surfing, photography, hiking, physical work, cooking, all creative projects and growing vegetables. I grew up vegetarian for the first 20 years of my life, with an emphasis on organic, so am well versed in this style of cooking. I’m happiest when I’m using my hands, helping where I’m needed, and contributing to a positive, easygoing environment.
I’m reliable, adaptable, and excited to share skills, stories, good meals and hopefully a wave or two :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

My skillset is influenced by my roles within the film industry, both creative and practical. I have worked in production, with responsibility of project management, concept development, treatment design ( pitching projects) and budgeting. I have good technology skills within google suite, social media management, camera technician skills and general comfortability navigating the tech world :)

As a photographer, I am constantly developing concepts, shooting and editing. As a surfer I'm very comfortable and knowledgeable about ocean conditions and have worked as a surf instructor before.

I have been surrounded by organic and biodynamic farming practises my whole life and have some experience within this.

I am a competent and curious cook who can quite effortlessly fed large amount of people from my days of cooking for my family of 10. I am also experienced within creating, caring and baking with sourdough starters.

I am easy going in a social setting, with an instinctive neatness and orderliness that comes from being one of many kids growing up in a small home. I am detail oriented and conscientious of sharing a space with others - I will never leave my dishes unwashed in the sink :)
