Hello everyone
We are Tatiana and Robin, we are waitress and carpenter/builder, we are long-term travelers, French from Paris and Toulouse. We are traveling the Americas from Alaska to Patagonia (Argentina). We love to know about local lifestyle in every country we cross. We travel to see this beautiful world, the nature and understand the differents cultures.
We are Very easy going people who can adapt very quick to any situations and we find happiness in simple activities. We had volunteering experiences before in Philippines, Korea, Australia, new Zealand, Canada, Germany, France Thailand and Hong Kong so we do know how to adapt to the need of the host.

Robin : I am a French Carpenter/builder for the last 14 years I have been working in many different countries with different techniques. I am a very straightforward guy. I can do any kind of job and always try my best.

Tatiana : I am cheerful person always ready for learning new things. I am perfectionist and like everything to be good balanced. Always on time and very hardworking person. I know how to adapt people's needs. I am an experienced waitress, have been a ressource manager and I am graduate from interior design school in Paris.
I enjoy every day like a new adventure for sharing and learning.

I've sometimes fantasized about a scenario where I could pick the best people who have come here over the years, like an all-star draft, to form the ultimate farm crew. If I could, then Tatiana and Robin would both be on the dream team. I was very happy with them, both with the work that they did and with their conduct. They were here for the… read more entirety of chestnut season 2024. I'm pretty sure that Tatiana picked more chestnuts than anyone else this year, which is not only a huge feat, but a testament to her drive and athletic ability. Though Robin was also good at harvesting, he ended up taking on a lot of other projects as well, being a man of many skills and ideas. Perhaps the biggest way that Robin left his mark on the farm was in how he expanded and upgraded the kitchen. Over the course of about 2 days, he bashed out a wall, cleaned up all the rubble, repaired any issues with the walls and floor, added new storage and shelving, and replaced the doors. Between his work and the help of a local friend, the kitchen grew substantially, had plumbing into a working drain, and was able to fit 2 tables, three times the food storage, and 6 times the burner space for cooking that the kitchen had before, and almost everyone really appreciated that. Robin also did much of our mowing and machine maintenance, and he and Tatiana would work together to finish up rows and mow them, which is an essential part of keeping chestnut season flowing smoothly.

2024 was a difficult year due to drought. We had to come up with a system of floating chestnuts to determine whether they are good or not, and we had to do it quickly and efficiently. Robin was one of the main brains behind our system, and spent quite a bit of time helping me and others to make it work. He also helped me water a lot of young blueberry plants that desperately needed a drink.

After the season was over, Robin and Tatiana stuck around into November. During the last couple weeks of the season, when most people had gone home, it was mostly they who continued the harvest until the end. Afterwards they helped mulch the blueberry patch, and Robin fixed my walk-in cooler door and gave the place yet another makeover, setting up a workstation with all of the tools organized in a shelving system that he rigged up, sometimes driving my dump truck to go acquire new supplies.

Tatiana and Robin were a lot of fun to host. They've been to 62 countries, so they were both a wealth of information about cultures and destinations. They were great with the kids and the other campers, and I'm glad that they came with us on our field trip to the corn maze and the farm where I grew up. They also made some local friends and took the canoes out for a few adventures. All my stuff always made it back safely, which I really appreciate. During the rare times when there was somebody who was hard to deal with, I think they made good decisions. It's hard to imagine chestnut season without Robin and Tatiana's help, and I'm incredibly grateful for all that they did, and that they chose our farm to come to and change for the better. I would most highly recommend hosting them both!
