Hello!

My name is Rosi, I am living and stuying social work in Münster, Germany. I did not get to travel a lot in the past, and since i've realised, that I am soon to have my bachelors degree and less time for exploring the world, I feel like getting away this summer! My dream would be helping out on a farm or in a self-supporting community, taking care of plants, animals, helping prepare meals and with what's to do around the house. I do not have any experience with farm work yet, but I would love to learn! I would like to visit Italy this year, since I love the mediterranean nature and mostly the passion for good food.
Since I am traveling alone and it is my first time doing workaway I am looking for a bit of community, where having a good time & good meals together is just as much a part of the experience as working together. I would also love to meet some other workawayers!

I like art, nature and cooking & eating, enjoy dancing and theatre, being out in the sun and reading a good book and swimming in lakes, rivers and oceans. I also really love long chats over a good coffee!

I am looking forward to meeting some lovely people :)

I am creative and can be very enthusiastic and motivated, when working on something that feels right for me. I am also good at making things/spaces beautiful and keeping them cozy and tidy. One of my love languages is food, which makes me good at cooking meals for people. I am reliable and honest. People say, that I radiate a really calm, zen kind of energy and that I am a good listener.
When it comes to labour, I mostly have experience in working with children, but would love to gain some new experiences!

I very much enjoy community and shared activities like cooking and eating together, making music, chatting, playing card or board or other games, exploring or creating art. I also enjoy my own company while reading, spending time in nature or just existing and doing whatever I feel like at the moment. I really love a good balance between community and alone time.
I love nature and animals of all sorts (obssessed with chicken and indian runner ducks).
In my free time one of the things I love to do most is playing theatre, which for me is as much about creating and expressing myself, as is is about community.

Vom Workawayer (Rosali) für Host (Creating a self sufficient ...)

Overall I had a really nice experience at Andrea and Michaeles beautiful farm in the woods! The place is surrounded by lush and green forests with stunning diversity of plants and insects and a great mountain view and delicious cold water comes right from the freshwater spring.
Due to the heat the workhours were three in the morning and two in… read more the evening. Work was sometimes hard and tiring but very diverse, I enjoyed not doing the exact same thing everyday. My favourite was picking the (delicious) blueberries and taking the goats on a walk in the chestnut forest. When not working it is possible to go for walks in the woods, take a swim in the pool that collects springwater, hang out with the lovely and very friendly dogs, read dozens of books, spend time with the other workawayers and help Andrea and Michaele with special tasks like baking bread or working wool. I especially loved all the animals on the farm and spending time with them.
If you want to get around and discover calabria tho, it is definitly better to have your own car. There is one bus going down to Lamezia at seven in the morning and coming back up at one, which gives a little bit of independence, but otherwise it is hard to get around on your own. In case you're getting two days off, which have to be negotiated, it is possible to go stay a night in a nearby town or by the sea and travel there by bus and train, which we did and was really nice. There is also a nice agriturismo restaurant in walking distance, which serves local food.
The food we were eating on the farm was always fresh from the garden and homemade for lunch either by Andrea or by one of us workawayers.
I think this place is the best fit if your are seriously considering getting into permaculture and self sustainability yourself, because Andrea and Michaele have great knowledge and are happy to share it. They love their land and work it hard. Andrea is a very caring person full of positive energy and I enjoyed chatting with her.
I think generally for communication it is best to be able to speak Italian, but it also works if you don't.
Andrea and Michaele live a unique lifestyle tucked away from societys expectations and in sync with nature and almost completly chemical free. Coming from the city it was sometimes hard for me to adapt and it is definitly important not the be afraid of all kinds of bugs in and out the house, but once I got used to it, it worked out for me!
Staying at their place was definitly a one of a kind experience and I appreciate Andrea and Michaele for opening their world to other people and wish them all good things for their ongoing journey in self sustainability!
