Hello there! I'm Mpumi, a 25-year-old female traveler from South Africa, currently exploring the vibrant cultures of South America with my partner, Rin, a 22 year old artist from Russia.

I, Mpumi, am originally from Johannesburg, South Africa and work in sustainable fashion with a special focus on highlighting indigenous textile practices. I work on diverse projects ranging from upcycling textiles, developing new biomaterials and textiles, to publishing research on varied sustainable fashion topics. Rin is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Moscow, Russia. He has lived in Paris, France for over five years, and before that, five years in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. He has actively participated and created in theatre and film, art fusion projects, painting and drawing and writing poetry. At the moment he is learning his way around music and sound production, as well as playwriting.

We both have a diverse professional backgrounds. I previously worked as a radio host for a community radio station, a screenwriter and children's theater playwright, and a just energy transition advocacy campaigner. Rin worked as a teacher of English through art for children aged 3-6, a vendor at a Canadian bookshop, and a waiter and barman at a French restaurant and Irish pub.

I have a deep love for astrology and read birth charts in both tropical and sidereal astrology. Additionally, both Rin and I cherish tarot as a powerful tool of divination, using it to provide guidance and clarity on various aspects of life.

We're open to a variety of volunteering experiences and are eager to contribute wherever we can. Whether it's through teaching, helping with sustainable projects, or cultural exchange programs, we're ready to dive in and make a positive impact. We both love learning new things and languages, and meeting new people. We cannot live without nature and art, and we appreciate physical and mindful hard work.

Growing up in Soweto, a vibrant and diverse community in Johannesburg, South Africa, has profoundly shaped my understanding of the importance of language as a tool for connection. In Soweto, it is common for the average resident to speak at least four languages, reflecting the rich culture of the area. I was fortunate to be immersed in this multilingual environment from a young age, which has made me an 'African polyglot'—adept at learning new languages and passionate about teaching them. Rin has lived on three different continents, and equally been exposed to diverse cultures, prompting a similar relationship to language. Being that we will be in Brazil for the next few months, we are both interested in improving our Portuguese skills.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Mpumi: I have a bachelor's degree in finance and marketing, which has equipped me with strong analytical skills and the ability to develop effective marketing strategies to maximize business revenue. I am also a qualified English teacher with a TEFL certification, ready to teach and help others improve their English skills. I run a small business in South Africa that focuses on creating bio-textiles from food waste, promoting circularity in fashion.


Rin: I have a baccalaureate in acting, which has equipped with you strong creative and directing skills. Additionally, I have worked a teacher of English through the arts, making me a qualified English and art teacher. I also have customer service experience from my time spent as a bartender and waiter.

Both of us are tarot readers, and Mpumi is also an avid astrologer.
