Hi everyone !

Coming from Paris, we arrived in Mexico (Yucatan) early in January 2024 with intention to discover a new everyday life - by working in fields differing from what we used to do back in France, by learning to speak a different language, by meeting people from various horizons, by leaving the big city for a while.

We don't know yet how long we'll be staying in Central America, but we know we'll be in Mexico until May then we will go to Guatemala. Our plan is to find Workaway opportunities throughout the road. We'd like to stay for around a month (if possible of course) in each place we stop by, as we did since the beginning of our trip.

It's important for us to develop a sense of day-to-day life, by finding habits and getting to know our hosts and their beloved ones better, wich explains why we would prefer to stay for several weeks (again, if possible). We also think time is necessary for us to learn how to do the job correctly and to enjoy the experience fully.

Quentin is 27, he speaks a good Spanish that he learned while living in Madrid for 1 year, as an "au pair". He also has learned to speak English as he spent 4 months in Scotland for a student exchange last year.
Inès is also 27, and her Spanish is not as good as Quentin's for now - but that should come back pretty soon since she has learned it in high school (though that was years ago). While waiting for Spanish to come back, she's at ease in English - she has spent a year in the Netherlands for her studies.

Holà todos!

Llegando de Paris hasta México (Yucatán) en enero con la intención de descubrir una nueva forma de vida, trabajando en diferentes tipos de trabajos de lo que estamos acostumbrados en Francia, hablando un nuevo idioma, encontrando gente de todo horizonte, dejando grandes ciudades para un momento.

Todavía no sabemos cuánto tiempo vamos a quedarnos en América Central, pero estaremos en México hasta mayo y después vamos a Guatemala. Queríamos encontrar Workaway voluntariados en nuestro camino, quedándonos un mes más o menos (si es posible) en cada lugar dónde pasamos, como lo que hicimos desde el inicio del viaje.

Es importante para nosotros desarrollar un senso de vida diaria, descubriendo hábitos y conociendo nuestros huéspedes y todo los demás con quiénes compartiremos este tiempo. Es porqué preferíamos quedar algunas semanas. También pensamos que esté tiempo es necesario para hacer el trabajo de manera correcta y aprovechar totalmente la experiencia.

Quentin tiene 27, habla bien español, lo aprendió viviendo en Madrid un año, como 'au pair'. También aprendió hablar inglés pasando 4 meses en Escosia para un intercambio universitario el año pasado.
Inès también tiene 27, su español está mejorando cada día viajando, ahora está bastante bien, y su inglés es muy fluido después de vivir un año en los Países Bajos para sus estudios.

Quentin is good at sport (mainly trail running, judo/jujitsu and football), he's thus enduring and strong. He's also organised and knows how to run things through (he used to work as a construction site manager in France). He has a logical and practical mind, which might explain why he likes maths (which he has taught to children as a student job). Quentin has also learned to live in someone's house during a year as an 'au pair' in Madrid, where he had to help a family of 7 (with 5 children aged from 11 to 18).
Finally, he's calm, humble, respectful and peaceful (not hard skills as such, but that makes him a really nice person to spend time with everyday).

Inès is curious and energetic. It's easy to get along with her for she's adaptable (she has lived in Morocco, France, the Netherlands, and also has spent few months in Togo and the UK). She's interested in environmental and social issues (she worked for public services aiming at improving access to water in France). When a student, she has worked as a waitress in a refreshment bar, as a receptionist in a tourism office in the south of France, and as a babysitter (children from 3 months to 10 yo). She's therefore at ease with people.
Inès also has done some volunteer work within an association assisting former detainees by creating a rehabilitation center (she was assisting the projects coordinator). She's been involved in student associations during 4 years.

We both shared flat/home with roomates for several years, hence we know how to take care of collective spaces and appreciate a daily good compagny, but also know to be discret and calm for the silence to come back at times.

Since the beginning of our trip we have volunteered in 3 places : an hostal in Merida, a eco-construction project also in Yucatan and a cultural center/student accomodation in Mexico City.

Quentin es dotado en deportes (principalmente carrera de sendero, judo/jujitsu y fútbol), entonces es resistente y fuerte. También es organizado y sabe hacer las cosas hasta el final (estaba jefe de obra/ingeniero civil en Francia). Tiene un espíritu lógico y práctico, es porqué le gusta las matemáticas, lo que ha enseñado a niños como trabajo estudiante.
Quentin también aprendió a vivir en la casa de otra persona durante un año como 'aupair' en Madrid, dónde ayudó una familia de 7 (con 5 niños de 11 hasta 18 años).
Finalmente, es calma, humilde, respetuoso y pacifico, todo eso hace de el una persona muy agradable para pasar tiempo cada día.

Inès es curiosa y energética. Es muy fácil bien caerse con ella porque es muy adaptable (vivo en Marruecos, Francia, Países Bajos y un poco en Todo y Inglaterra).
Esta interesada en medio ambiante y problemáticas sociales (trabajó en servicio público francés apoyando a mejorar el acceso al agua en el país). Durante sus estudios, trabajó de mesera, recepcionista en una oficina de turismo en el sur de Francia y ayudante para niños (desde 3 meses hasta 10 años). Entonces se calle muy bien con la gente.
También hizo un voluntariado en el pasado. Estuvo en una asociación apoyando ex detenidos creyendo un centro de rehabilitación, asistiendo el coordinador del proyecto. También era parte de una asociación estudiante durante 4 años.

Los 2 han compartido una casa con roomies por unos años, entonces saben cuidar el espacio colectivo y aprovechar de los momentos compartidos con los demás. También saben estár discretos y calmos para respectar al tiempo de descanso.

Desde el inicio del viaje hicimos 3 voluntariados : en un hostal en Merida, en un eco-construcion proyecto también en Yucatán y en un centro cultural/piso para estudiantes en la Ciudad de Mexico.
