Dear hosts,
unlike most Workawayers I’m an older guy, who already has children of his own and who has done lots of successful volunteering the past, mostly on organic farms (Wwoof) in France, England, Canada, Sweden. I am a high school teacher in Germany and I’m taking a year off.
At home I renovated an old house (built in 1888) where I have lived the past 15 years. I built two bathrooms including plumbing, tiling, installation of bathtub, I put new wooden floors in many rooms, built furniture, insulated the house and much more.
I built my own tiny house from scratch where I've been living for 1,5 years.
I’m not a trained craftsman but I like to do things with my hands and see the good results. It usually takes longer compared to professional person but in over 90% I’m happy with my outcome and it is very satisfying to learn new skills.
I sure know how to work and I’m self-reliant and know when to ask and when to work independently.
I have a driver's licence.
I speak German and English fluently and sufficient French (would like to improve it)
From school / student exchanges I have numerous experiences with both people staying in my house and me staying in their house. In over 25 years I had one unfortunate experience and uncountable many positive ones.
I would be happy if I could help out at your place in exchange for some new skills or a cultural/ language experience.
