I am looking for experience learning about general care for woodland and gardening. I have recently gained a small felling licence and I’m keen to put it into practice. I am currently in the process of career change after being a yacht chef for 10 years.
I am a kind and considerate person looking to gain experience alongside likeminded people. I spent the last year on a straw bale barn build in a small woodland in Devon. It was a fantastic experience living in the beautiful sometimes challenging nature. I gained some experience working on a sawmill, building a horse box sauna and predominantly carpentry work on the barn. After my time spent here I’m sure I don’t want to be a carpenter but really value being in the outdoors even in the rain.

I had a very nice two weeks with Chris and Joanna. They are both thoughtful and warm people who make every effort to make you feel comfortable. I spent my time between helping in the garden with Chris and assisting the mason in the house, it was always fun and plenty of opportunities to learn. We warmed to Phil straight away and thoroughly enjoyed having him along. He helped out in all sorts of ways with good humour and was collaborative in work outside and in, as well as being a great cook. Inaki and Maggie were fantastic hosts and made me feel incredibly welcome and at home! It was a lot of fun learning about basque culture and their way of life over their delicious cooking and the odd glass of wine :) Also great to meet friends and family and join their social events!
