Hello, my name is Paris! I have always been fascinated by both nature and culture. I love exploring and getting to know new places, hiking, gardening, and taking care of animals. I also love to sing and play guitar, dance, bike, bake, write poems, read, communicate in different languages, and learn about different cultures.
I am half American and half Danish. After finishing my degree in French Studies and Sociology, I moved to Denmark and then to France, where I lived for the last two years. In France I discovered WWOOFing, and I've spent the past six months working on organic farms all over the country, learning a lot about French society.
Through WWOOF, I learned about Workaway! I'm hoping to see more of the world, work on some interesting and varied projects, and learn from the people I meet along the way.

I would be delighted to teach French and help with French language practice! I did not grow up speaking the language: I studied it over the course of years both at school and independently, and am now fluent. I would love to share what I have learned. I am also half Danish and can hold conversations in Danish, if you are looking for a practice buddy, or are interested in learning about Danish culture. I am personally interested in learning Mandarin, though this is currently still the germ of an idea rather than a full-fledged project :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I could share my language, music, outdoor, and cooking skills. I'd also be delighted to assist with creative projects!
I am fluent in French and studied French language, literature, and culture at university, graduating with high honors. I lived in France for three years and a have a year of foreign language teaching experience (English) from working in a university in Paris.
Music is a life-long passion for me and I am always happy to share what I know. I am a singer, songwriter, and guitarist, playing mostly folk music. I am a patient teacher, and care about personalizing lessons to make them exciting and accessible for my students.
I enjoy manual work as well, and have been an enthusiastic gardener since I was 10 years old, when I planted my first kitchen garden. I later got involved in conservation, volunteering as a project leader for the Audubon Society from 2017 to 2021. While working for them I planted a rain garden, maintained trails, and built a bee house to attract native pollinators. Through WWOOFing I've learned more about sustainable living and animal care. I would be curious to learn additional manual skills, such as woodworking.
Finally, I am passionate about preparing delicious food. I know recipes from around the world: I'd be glad to share traditional French or Danish recipes, for example. I can also share tasty vegetarian cooking ideas. I am an enthusiastic baker, and regularly bake homemade bread, cookies, cakes, savory tarts, and pizza. Lately I have been learning how to make pickles and jam.
