Hola, Jesse & Michelle here!

Currently living in Punta Banco, Costa Rica. We are the managers of Rancho Burica, a property in the South of Costa Rica, that contains 7 cabinas and a restaurant. In November we are going to train the new managers for next season and after this it's time for us to continue our adventure.

Jesse fell in love with Brazil as soon as he set foot in this country and this has made him desperate to discover more of Central- and South America. As a surfer it is his dream to live on a beach and be able to surf every day, as this is hard in the Netherlands.

Michelle left the Netherlands in march 2017 for a working holiday in Australia, she loved this way of life: working in different places and branches, meeting new people and cultures and being outdoor most of the time. After traveling around for 4 years she spent time in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Vietnam, Cook islands, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Seychelles. Because of COVID she had to return home in 2021. Thats when she moved to Rotterdam and met Jesse.

Back home we were managing a restaurant/bar together in the city center of Rotterdam. We decided we wanted something different and that's when we booked a flight to Costa Rica.
We left home in December 2022, to discover and explore Central- and South America.

We wanted to visit Nicaragua to start our adventure and just have some time off and relax. Worked out a bit different: three weeks later we were working in a bar, Popoyo Republic, in Popoyo. This was a beautiful place and a good way to start practicing our Spanish.

From there we moved to Playa Coyote, Costa Rica. This was our first Workaway, we helped the owners with managing a Glamping Spot up a mountain and close to beautiful surf.

In Dominical we did our second Workaway and really got into the Domi community. We stayed for 5 months and even found other jobs in town. Jesse found a job as Chef and Surf instructor and Michelle worked as a Receptionist in a small family runned hotel.

We love our way of life and it's really nice to share our knowledge and passion about hospitality, surf and our lifestyle with other people and cultures. We are looking forward to our next stay!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Jesse has been in culinaire school for two years, loves cooking and still cooks often for family and friends. After school he started working in a hostel, where he learned all the aspects of running a hostel: housekeeping, bartending, receptionist and he even got his barista certificate.

Michelle has her bachelor degree eventmanagement. Before she left home she organized (electronic music)festivals. She’s got over 15 year experience in hospitality, working in beachclubs, restaurants, coffeeshops and pubs in the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.

We both have lots of experience in hospitality and we share our passion for food and drinks. We're really sensitive for customer service and we have a certain idea about what good customer service is (European standards). One day we would love to open a business (read: bed and breakfast, hotel, restaurant etc.) for ourselves. For now we continue our travels and hope to find nice places where we can work and share our knowledge.
