Hey, I'm Martina, a 27-years-old fresh graduate of psychology living in Brno, Czech republic. I'm originally from Slovakia, but I've been living in Brno for 9 years. I've always loved animals and spent most of my childhood fantasizing about having an animal shelter. For some reason, I decided to focus on helping people rather than animals, however, I still feel a strong need to be closer to animals as it's something that makes me quite happy. I used to walk dogs in a local shelter in my hometown when I was younger, however, it's been a long time since I felt had done something really meaningful. That´s probably the main reason why I'm here :)

I used to study French at high school, but never got to the point where I would actually be able to speak it. So I would love to overcome this almost lifelong fear and practice some French :) I can also teach some English (although I'm not a native speaker, I have experience with teaching English).

Martina was with us recently for three weeks helping to take care of the abandoned cats and kittens from the street. I stayed at Jackie's for three weeks, and by the end of my stay, I really wished I could stay longer. We were happy to host Martina at the shelter for two weeks. Although it was her first exposure to an open shelter like ours, she adapted quickly and learned the daily chores and did them flawlessly. Vom Workawayer () für Host (Non-profit animal sanctuary ...)

I stayed in the shelter with Diamanto and Thomas for two weeks in September. It was my first workaway experience and also the first time I stayed in an animal shelter.
