Hi, my name is Martina, I am 27 years old and I'm from Germany.
I love travelling, meeting new people and seeing the world. My biggest hobby is riding roller coasters and visiting theme parks, through which I’ve already met so many amazing people! I also love all animals, especially horses and horseback riding, which I've been doing ever since I was a child.
After being very busy with working full-time while also studying for my master's degree in engineering, I'm now finished and decided to travel the world for a while. I'd also like to use the time to pick up more of my hobbies again, like reading, going for walks and hikes, swimming, doing yoga and just generally being more active again.
I just finished a world trip, which started in May 2023 with three months in the USA. Since then, I have spent a year in Canada, went back to the USA for another three months and then came to New Zealand for the last three months of my trip. The whole journey lasted just under 2 years.
I did a few workaways all over Canada and one in New Zealand and I absolutely loved it! The ability to be with a family and to experience the local culture firsthand is just priceless. If I ever start travelling again I hope to find more hosts around the world where I can stay for a while to help out and learn more about the local way of life!
During my multiple workaway stays I now had the opportunity to pick up many more useful skills than I had before. From taking care of various animals including working with cattle and calves to using all sorts of power tools, I'm slowly but surely expanding my skillset with every new place I get to stay.

German is my native language and I also speak English fluently. I had French in school for 3 years, then forgot most of it and started taking classes again in the fall of 2022, but I didn't get very far with it. So I would love to improve my French and get it to a level where I can actually have a conversation with others.

I have been horse riding ever since I’ve been 6 years old, mostly recreational and English dressage. While I never had my own horse, I have taken lessons and had leased horses that I got to treat almost like my own, so I know about taking care of them, feeding them, grooming them and everything else that comes with being around horses. Through Workaway I now also had the opportunity to gather and sort cattle on horseback as well as tagging and vaccinating calves.
In winter 23/24 I worked as a stable hand in barn, turning horses in and out, mucking stalls etc. and during a different workaway I had a brief experience of working as a guide for trail rides on a guest ranch.
With every workaway I do, I learn a new skill and tool to use, from pressure washing to painting, so I feel like I am getting handier the longer I am on this trip, which I love!
Aside from any farm work I actually enjoy a lot of household tasks and keeping a home clean and tidy. If you have any organization projects, I'd love to help. Just stick me in a messy garage for a day and I'll be happy to sort it out.
I’m not a pro at any certain skill, but I try to combat that with my willingness to learn and a good work ethic. I’m grateful to anyone who takes the time to teach me something and I don’t mind working hard and getting my hands dirty.

I really enjoy a good discussion or just talking about live in general. I always try to be as polite, clean and unobtrusive as possible.
While in Canada I have my own car for transportation.
