Hi! My name is Martin (as you’ve probably already read). I was born in a small village of 200 people in Asturias, Spain, and I can’t help but love the countryside. I’m especially drawn to rural environments—far from the noise of the world and full of people with big hearts.

I’m an enthusiastic guy who’s always eager to work and learn from local people, wherever I go.

I have a lot of experience living and traveling on my own, and I’m very independent in that sense. I’m the type of person who solves problems, not causes them.

I’m pretty good at household tasks like cooking, cleaning, taking care of children and pets, etc. I’m quite sociable, and I love building strong connections with the places I visit and the people I meet. At the same time, I enjoy silence and personal space. I’d say I’m a sociable introvert... one of those types.

When it comes to spirituality, I have to say I’m always learning how much I still have to learn. So I can’t pretend to know a lot, but I do feel I’ve learned a few vital lessons that bring me inner light and happiness.

I have my own yoga practice, and I’ve spent about a year and a half living and volunteering in different temples. I really enjoy Hindu culture.

My relationship with the divine is very personal, and I tend to value the teachings more than the name you give them. So if you practice a religion of your own, I’d love to learn more about it! Nothing makes me happier than a good theological conversation—always with love and devotion.

When it comes to food, I’ve got quite a bit of experience in that area too. I’ve been interested in nutrition since I was 15 and have been studying it ever since. These days, I’ve mastered quite a few recipes from Indian cuisine and French baking, so I’d say I’m a good cook. I’d love to say “a very good cook,” but excellence is always in the hands of the people you feed.

"What are your interests?"
Simply meeting people, getting involved in local culture, and making friends. In my free time, I like to read, exercise, study languages, meditate, and explore topics like philosophy, health, nutrition, permaculture, and/or spirituality.

¡Hola! Me llamo Martín (como ya habréis podido leer). Nací en un pequeño pueblo de 200 habitantes en Asturias, España, y no puedo evitar amar el campo. Me interesan especialmente los entornos rurales, lejos del mundanal ruido y llenos de gente de inmenso corazón.

Soy un chico entusiasta que siempre quiere trabajar y aprender con la gente local, dondequiera que vaya.

Tengo mucha experiencia viviendo y viajando solo, y soy muy independiente en ese sentido, lo que me hace ser del tipo que resuelve problemas, no que los causa.

Soy bastante bueno en las tareas del hogar, como cocinar, limpiar, cuidar niños, cuidar mascotas, etc. Soy sociable y me encanta construir vínculos fuertes con los lugares que visito y con la gente que conozco. Al mismo tiempo, disfruto del silencio y del espacio personal. Me considero más bien un introvertido sociable... uno de esos tipos.

En términos de espiritualidad, tengo que decir que siempre estoy aprendiendo cuánto me queda por aprender. Así que no puedo afirmar que sepa mucho, pero creo que he aprendido unas cuantas lecciones vitales que me llenan de luz y felicidad internamente.

Tengo mi propia práctica de yoga, he estado viviendo y haciendo voluntariado en diferentes templos durante más o menos un año y medio, y me gusta mucho la cultura hindú.

Mi relación con lo divino es muy personal, y tiendo a valorar las enseñanzas por encima del nombre que les quieras dar. Así que, si profesas tu propia religión, ¡me encantaría aprender más sobre ella! Nada me hace más feliz que una buena charla teológica, siempre con amor y devoción.

En cuanto a la comida, tengo bastante experiencia en ese ámbito. Siempre me ha interesado mucho la nutrición, y la estudio desde que tenía 15 años. A día de hoy he dominado bastantes recetas de la cocina india y de la pastelería francesa, por lo que diría que soy un buen cocinero. Me gustaría decir "muy buen cocinero", pero la excelencia siempre la deciden los comensales.

¿Cuáles son tus intereses?
Simplemente, conocer gente, involucrarme con la cultura y hacer amigos. En mi tiempo libre me gusta leer, hacer ejercicio, estudiar idiomas, meditar e investigar temas como filosofía, salud, nutrición, permacultura y/o espiritualidad.

Don't be fooled by my age – as you see me, I actually have quite a bit of working experience.

Especially in hospitality, since my parents own a hotel, so I've always been involved in the business. That includes cleaning rooms, preparing and serving breakfast, working at reception, doing some accounting tasks… basically, everything that running a hotel involves.

When I turned 18, I decided it was time to take a gap year and found a job in Madrid as a tour guide and event organizer. I worked there for three months and, although I really enjoyed it, living in Madrid was quite stressful and I missed nature and clean air. So I decided to volunteer in the French countryside.

That was my first Workaway experience. I spent four months there learning about permaculture, animal care (especially goats and cows), and community living. It was also the place where I made friendships that later led me to the job I've been doing for the past two years: organizing Erasmus+ projects. That basically means writing projects, organizing events, welcoming participants, preparing activities, finding group leaders, handling logistics, and solving unexpected problems all over the place. Especially during summer camps — sometimes with children, sometimes with adults, and sometimes with that in-between age group.

In addition to my current work experience, I’d say I have a good eye for aesthetics, definitely a green thumb when it comes to plants, and I’m pretty good at public speaking.

During volunteering, I enjoy fully immersing myself in the work as if it were my own project — empathizing with all the love, care, and dedication that you as hosts put into your beautiful initiatives. It truly moves me to see the passion you bring to your ideas, and I’d love to be a part of them.

As for the things I may not be as skilled at — I’m the kind of person who chooses to learn from mistakes rather than get frustrated. It’s a conscious choice that I’ve made and one I intend to stick to. I take both positive and negative feedback well, and I’m always polite and patient — so I expect the same in return. I’m one of those creative minds always ready to bring in new ideas, and I adapt easily to unexpected situations.

With all that said, I truly look forward to helping you out. ^^

No os dejéis engañar por mi edad: aquí donde me veis tengo un tanto de experiencia laboral.

Especialmente en hostelería, ya que mis padres tienen un hotel, así que siempre he estado al día con el negocio. Eso incluye limpiar habitaciones, preparar y servir el desayuno, atender en recepción, realizar algunas tareas de contabilidad... en definitiva, todo lo que implica ocuparse de un hotel.

Cuando cumplí 18, decidí que era momento de tomarme un año sabático y encontré un trabajo en Madrid como guía turístico y organizador de eventos. Estuve tres meses en ese trabajo y, aunque me gustaba bastante, vivir en Madrid era muy estresante y echaba de menos la naturaleza y el aire no contaminado. Así que me fui de voluntariado al campo, en Francia.

Fue mi primer Workaway. Allí pasé cuatro meses aprendiendo sobre permacultura, cuidado de animales (especialmente cabras y vacas) y sobre vivir en comunidad. También fue el lugar donde hice amistades que más tarde me proporcionarían el trabajo que he estado realizando durante los dos últimos años como organizador de proyectos Erasmus+. Básicamente, escribiendo proyectos, organizando eventos, dando la bienvenida a la gente, preparando actividades, consiguiendo monitores, cubriendo la logística y resolviendo imprevistos por doquier. Sobre todo durante los campamentos de verano: a veces con niños, a veces con adultos, y a veces con ese rango intermedio entre ambos.

Además de mi experiencia laboral actual, diría que tengo buen ojo para la estética, sin duda tengo "mano verde" con las plantas, y soy bastante bueno hablando en público.

Durante el voluntariado, disfruto involucrándome a fondo con el trabajo, como si se tratara de un proyecto propio, empatizando con todo el amor, cariño y dedicación que le ponéis como anfitriones a vuestros hermosos proyectos. Mi corazón se conmueve al ver todo el amor que dedicáis a vuestras ideas, y me encantaría ser parte de ellas.

En cuanto a aquellas tareas en las que quizás no soy tan hábil, soy el tipo de persona que elige aprender de los errores en lugar de frustrarse; y es una elección consciente que siempre mantendré como una promesa. Sé aceptar tanto las críticas buenas como las malas, y siempre soy educado y paciente, así que espero lo mismo a cambio. Soy una de esas mentes creativas que siempre está dispuesta a aportar nuevas ideas y me adapto fácilmente a los imprevistos.
