Hello, we are mother (Maria) and daughter (Daya) from Athens, Greece.
Daya:
Hello! My name is Daya Fertaki, I'm 27 years old, I'm from Greece and I'm living in Barcelona.
I am a recent Architecture graduate, I fell in love with Barcelona and I'm trying to find work there as an architect so I'm in the process of learning Spanish. I love to travel and at the same time meeting people who live there and try to learn from them, understand their mindset and exchange ideas and knowledge. That's why I decided to join workaway!
I would love to offer help in the construction process, I love working in the garden, and i also love animals and I'm very happy taking care of them. I used to practice Wudang Kung Fu and I'm currently doing Ashtanga Yoga. Also I have sailing hostess experience, so I would be very happy to help in any way needed in the kitchen.
I'm looking forward to meeting you and dive into this rich experience!
Maria:
I have travelled to most continents and I travel with every opportunity until I can, soon I hope, travel full time. I often travel solo and I am happy with my own company if my daughters or friends are not interested in visiting the places I want to go to.
I just registered to workaway because I love the idea of offering something back to the places I go to and immersing myself in the culture of the place. I would like a workaway in Spain for August where I can both meet up with my daughter who has moved to Spain and also practice spanish. I understand quite a bit but speak rather slow.
In Athens i work for an NGO that supports refugee and migrant mothers as a psychologist and lactation consultant and I really love my work. I practice yoga (have been to india 18 times!) hike and dance traditional greek dances (and try my luck with all other dances). I free camp all over Greece and homeexchange . I like road trips and I recently got a sailing diploma and hope to discover the seas as well!
I am very experienced with babies and children, can do all house and garden work and loooove animals of all kinds. We have had dogs and cats for years, a horse for a few and love taking care of them. I really adore donkeys. Last few years I lived in an off grid house in the outskirts of Athens . It was all built and furnished from repurposed and second hand materials with solar panels, water from a well, a vegetable garden and quite a few animals.
I am a very adaptable person, who enjoys being useful, eager to learn new things and share what i know. I have a minimalistic attitude to things so i am good at cleaning out and arranging closets, cupboards and whatelse!

Was könntest du arbeiten?
Maria: In one word I am a carer. I take care of small and big people, small and big animals, homes, gardens. I like to be given some direction but even without it I understand what is needed and i do it. Even boring things that others skip. I have a lot of experience with babies and children. I am a good listener and cooperate well with others.
Daya: I have an eye for spacial beauty. I can combine available materials and objects to make a space beautiful. I have participated in workshops in Creta for ecological materials and cob construction. I can use architectural programs for reconstruction or renovation plans. I can cook great Greek food!

2. In the description it appeared as a community and we chose it specifically because we… read more
They said they could only stay three weeks and our minimum stay is one month but we decided to make an exception as they sounded nice and said they had some relevant skills.
The previous volunteer made the house nice for them, Ron who is in charge while Kate was on holiday welcomed them.and… read more
