Hello!

I'm Macey, I'm a 22-year-old graduate from the UK, currently working as a duty manager in a climbing wall/bar. I have done some travelling as a child with my family, and after so many years of education and work, I'm itching to get out and explore the world! I also want to do some manual labour work to have a break from my everyday life of studying and to connect to my body and the earth more.

I have many hobbies and passions that I hope to share with other wonderful people on my journey. I enjoy yoga, rock climbing, swimming and meditation as well as reading. I love walking on the beach and watching the sunsets, there's something about the sound of the waves and the beautiful sky that just makes my soul happy. I don't follow a particular religion, but I'm very interested in my own spiritual development and connecting with others on the same path.

At university, I studied Sociology and Criminology, so naturally, I love to learn about other people's stories and experiences in the world, plus their cultures and belief systems. I like to think I'm a pretty open-minded person, and I get along with almost anyone. Though I want to take a break from my current lifestyle, I think opportunities such as working away will give me lots of real-life experience relating to my field which I look forward to! I believe that I should make the most out of the life I have, and I feel called to travel and explore all over the world, and meet fantastic people along the way. After the events of COVID-19, I feel this calling even more, and want to take the opportunity I have to travel before it disappears!

I'm open to travelling with another workawayer, particularly a woman around my age so we can stay safe and enjoy some great experiences together.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have worked in the hospitality and retail industries since I was 15, so I have experience as a waitress, shop assistant, food stand worker, and barista and I am currently a duty manager at a climbing wall and bar. Last summer I did a three-week workaway where I was a barista and waitress, and helped to develop more organised practices in the cafe as well as begin training other staff on coffee.

My previous work experience helps me to engage with customers and people I don't know with confidence, I'm organised and work well alone and with others, I'm good under pressure and in busy environments, and I can think fast on my feet. I am also the point of call for training new people as I have a knack for explaining concepts and I like to do things the proper way.

I don't have much physical labour experience, but I'm active and healthy so I'm in good shape to work with my body. I also do lots of yoga and rock climbing, so I'm stronger than I probably look! Most of all, I'm a quick learner and willing to try almost anything. I don't mind getting sweaty and dirty, so with someone whos willing to explain things, I'm sure I can get on with any task. I have a keen eye for detail, and I'm very neat and tidy, I have always done my own chores at home and lived alone at university so I know how to complete household tasks to a high standard.

I am also currently developing my skills in digital marketing. I am no expert and have little experience so far, but I am more than happy to help market your business and create a website - it would help me gain experience, and hopefully you will gain a bigger audience!

Was noch ...

I love watching the sunset (and sunrise if I'm up early enough!), having deep conversations, and learning about other people's countries, cultures and languages. I'd like to travel to as many places in my life as possible, so hopefully, workaway can help me with that! I can't say no to a pint in the sun, and I adore cats:)
