Hi!
We are Louisa and Rob, we are a couple from the UK. We are both 28 and have been together for 10 years now!

We have both just finished PhDs from the University of Edinburgh in Biological Sciences and now we're planning on travelling for a year or so to see more of the world and learn about other cultures.

We both have quite active hobbies and together enjoy watersports, especially snorkelling and scuba diving (PADI advanced open water certified). We also enjoy walking and camping and are both animal lovers. Back home, our other hobbies seperately include cycling and netball (Louisa) and rugby (Rob).

We are both fully vaccinated against Covid (four doses) and have other recommended vaccinations. We are both happy entertaining ourselves and are quiet, clean and respectful. However we also enjoy meeting new peoples and new experiences and this is one thing we are looking forward to about workaway!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Overall we are an easygoing couple and happy to have a go at anything. We live together in our home in Edinburgh for nearly 3 years now and always try to do odd jobs around the house ourselves and have picked up a lot of skills that way.

We started our travels in Taiwan where we did two work exchanges through another website. We spent a month helping with customer service and housekeeping in a surf hostel, and another month working in a homestead in the mountains. Here we helped with gardening, permaculture principles, sustainable building and house/dog sitting.

We've done two further work exchanges in Malaysia, the first in a beach resort where we mainly helped in the bar and restaurant, and the second in an eco-resort where we made habitats for the local wildlife.

I (Louisa) worked on ad-hoc basis in the UK as an admin assistant and also do some occasional work designing websites while I'm traveling. I also worked as a nanny for children both in the UK and abroad alongside my studies so happy to help out any families that need an extra pair of hands!

I (Rob) used to work as a gardener around my studies. I've always spent lots of time helping my family with all sorts of DIY jobs, especially cutting firewood(!) I try to do all the maintenance in our house myself, including plumbing, electrics, painting and carpentry. I'm not a professional but I will give anything a go and pick things up quickly! I love everything to do with food and drink, from growing vegetables to making fancy dishes. I'm also a confident driver.

Other specific experience and skills we have already include animal care (we fostered an elderly dog with cancer for 7 months before she was healthy enough to be adopted and both grew up with pets). We're both native english speakers and our PhDs have involved a lot of writing so happy to help with that if needed.
