Hello everyone! 🌟

My name is Lily, and I'm from the beautiful city of Milan, Italy. I have a passion for teaching foreign languages, and I'm fluent in both English and Italian. I also speak Japanese and Chinese at an intermediate level.
When I was a teenager I lived in Beijing for approximately one and a half years and learned Chinese at an international high school.
I've been studying Japanese for a few years and I can speak it at an intermediate level.

Although my career has largely been in the luxury fashion sector, my academic background is in international communication—a fancy way of saying foreign language studies and teaching.
Teaching English has been a part of my life since I was very young. I used to help my classmates by forming small study groups and teaching them regularly. I would love to share my passion for teaching with anyone interested in learning English or Italian.
During my time studying in Tokyo during my university, I worked as a freelance English teacher, providing lessons to adult students and business professionals almost every day. It was an incredibly rewarding experience (and now I'm about to get my TELF teaching certificate!!🎓).

I am also an avid traveler and have visited every continent except for Oceania (which I hope to visit one day). My favorite country so far has been Japan, and I can't wait to return and explore even more of this incredible nation.

In my younger years, I was a dedicated Karate student and achieved a black belt, participating in several national competitions. Due to my busy work and study schedule, I had to pause my training, but I now practice yoga and pilates. I also enjoy long walks and jogging while listening to music.

As a true Italian, I have a deep love for cooking and baking. I'd be delighted to teach you some delicious and easy recipes, and we can cook together! Of course, I'm eager to learn new recipes from you as well, so let's create wonderful memories in the kitchen.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with you!

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Join our family and our son ...)

Amazing first Workaway experience – warm family, fun work, perfect location!

I had the pleasure of staying with Mayumi and her family, and I couldn't have asked for a better first Workaway experience. Mayumi is a truly incredible host – always kind, caring, and ready to help with anything you might need. Communication was smooth at all times, as… read more she speaks and understands English very well, and I never experienced any misunderstandings. She even invited me to go shopping with her and we went together to Uji to enjoy a tea making experience. We created beautiful memories I will cherish forever about my stay in Kyoto. Her husband is as kind and caring as her, but he speaks no English at all so unless you know a bit of Japanese you'll have a hard time communicating with him.

Her son is a bright, curious, and energetic boy who made every day fun and interesting. Most of the work involved playing with him – his favorite activities include imaginative play with plushies, cars and trains, playing with slime, and watching Ghibli movies (he loves Porco Rosso) and Lupin. He speaks English at an impressive level for his age, and I always enjoyed our time together. The only small challenge was keeping him focused when his dad came home from work, as he absolutely adores spending time with him – but that just shows how close they are as a family.
We sometimes went to the park (he’s a speedy cyclist!), and during his dinner I read books to him (he will make sure to tell you which are his favourites).

The rest of the tasks were light and easy: cleaning the house in the morning for about 30 minutes, four days a week. It was quick to complete and very manageable.

Regarding meals, I unfortunately got a bit sick before arriving in Japan and had to stick to a special diet, so I mostly cooked for myself. However, Mayumi prepares meals daily for the family, and usually Workawayers enjoy what she makes for dinner – always with care and attention.

Accommodation was very comfortable: the family provides a cozy private room for the Workawayer, and the house is a welcoming place. Keep in mind that you'll walk in the house barefoot, as they all do.

The location is ideal for those who love to explore – just a short walk from the station, making it super convenient to visit Kyoto city center as well as nearby places like Osaka, Nara, and Uji.

This experience exceeded all my expectations. If given the chance, I would return without hesitation. I wholeheartedly recommend this Workaway to anyone interested – just make sure you are truly fluent in English, as Mayumi’s son has quite an advanced level and deserves someone who can keep up with his skills! It may seem easy to play for a few hours a days with the child, but in reality he is very active and tends to switch from one game to another quite frequently. The main task is to keep up with him attentively, engaging him in activities that encourage him to practice English in the most natural and effective way possible. It's important to keep his attention focused on what we're doing together, rather than on what's happening in the other room. Equally important is encouraging him to use his creativity by coming up with games and activities that allow him to express himself and develop new ideas in a fun and spontaneous way.
