Hello this is Julia,

a 33 year old biologist, based in Hamburg and Husum in the north of Germany. I am working in environmental planning and nature protection and my plan for this year is to do a permaculture design course to get some deeper insights into theory and practice after spending some time in smaller permaculture projects in the past.

I started volunteering back in 2011 in a National Park in Greece for a year and then started workaway and other volunteering in 2014. It has been such a great experience that I keep coming back. Over the years I have helped out in a vegetarian restaurant, in greenhouses and on a farm in Iceland. I worked in an Ecoresort doing housekeeping, a permaculture garden, on a macadamia nut farm and a garden project focusing on native species in New Zealand. Later I travelled to Italy and Norway to learn more about permaculture and sustainable living in different projects. More recently I have helped on a building site where we helped restore an old house with ecofriendly materials.

What I really enjoy is not only to travel to different countries, but the quality of shared time and experiences. To step outside my own way of living, habits, thoughts and doing things. I would love to see how you live, what’s important to you, what projects you spend your time and dedication on.

I am interested in learning more about permaculture applied, gardening, sustainable living and building and environmental education and much more…

I love being outside in nature, a major motivation for me to leave the city, I enjoy hiking and canoing. I play guitar and cello and have a passion for water colours and brushes. You can usually count on me when it comes to any kind of creative project and baking decent cinnamon buns.
