Beschreibung

Lara:
Since I was little, I have loved traveling. Now that I am grown up I am finally able to plan my own trips to explore the world and its beautiful cultures and landscapes. Last year, I did a voluntary service in the USA for one year. I got to know so many wonderful people and saw so many amazing places that I am now motivated to do more traveling in different locations. I met my best friend Hannah last year, and we came up with the idea to do some "work and traveling" before we start studying in Germany. Now we are both very excited to explore the east coast of Australia. I am convinced that the best way to develop yourself is to be open for new things and to step out of your comfort zone in order to gain new perspectives.

Hannah:
I have always wanted to travel and see the world after finishing school, and now I’m here, starting my last gap year before I begin my studies.

During my first two gap years, I volunteered in California and Philadelphia, where I lived and worked with children and adults with special needs. These two years were filled with incredibly special moments and helped me discover how much I love connecting with new people and experiencing different cultures.

Traveling has shown me that even on the other side of the world, people are not so different from me, and that meaningful connections are what truly matter.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Lara:
Through my voluntary service, I was able to develop many social skills, as we lived in a large community. Also I took care of children with disabilities 10 houres a day, which taught me a lot about responsibility . During this time, I learned what it means to work every day and to put myself in other people’s perspectives.
In addition, I did a lot of tasks around the house such as cleaning, cooking, and gardening. I am a very patient person and able to adapt easily to different situations and environments. Overall, I would describe myself as a quick learner who is always willing to help wherever needed.

Hannah:
During my two gap years, I developed strong social skills. I became better at connecting with people and listening to their needs. Through my work experience with children with special needs, I learned how to handle stressful situations calmly and creatively. For Example I developed many ways how to motivate kids to brush their teeth. :)

Working with the children involved many different tasks and responsibilities, such as gardening, cooking, cleaning, and much more. As a result, I gained experience in a wide range of areas.

Some of these skills I already developed at home. I grew up on a small farm with my parents and my four brothers, where I was always motivated to learn new things and help out wherever it was needed.

Lara:
I would say that I am more of an evening person, so I enjoy spending time together in the evenings-cooking meals, playing games or simply talking about life. I also like outdoor activities and am always happy to learn about about the hobies of other people.

Hannah:
I would describe myself as an active person. Since I was young, I’ve loved all kinds of sports, such as gymnastics on the horse, surfing, and many more. At the same time, I also enjoy relaxed activities like going for walks in nature and Card Games
