Having recently finished my law-studies, I want to escape my social bubble, get out of my comfort scone and, ideally, establish some long-term friendships and relations, before I (probably) go fishing for a job come the end of the year.

I enjoy a particular interest in Europpean litterature and culture.

I love nothing more than sitting down for a spot of good conversation, but I also enjoy hiking and being outdoors.

I`m a Norwegian Lawyer. During my studies I headed a legal Clinic, working on a part-time basis. The Clinic provided legal guidance to startup-companies and ventures, free of charge.

In my teenage years I worked as a landscape-gardener for three summers. I have also worked in Construction, for three summers.

My biggest selling points , however, is my can-do attitude, my positivity, and my ability to learn quickly.

Apart from reading, I have always enjoyed outdoor-hiking, on my own or with friends and family. Im familiar with being outdoors, and I know how to handle myself, or to take care for others.

In the winter I love cross-country-skiing, particularly in the Norwegian mountains. I have played soccer all my life.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Learn about permaculture near ...)

I stayed- and worked with Sylph at her beautiful farmstead for two whole months. It was amazing, profound and transformative.

Seeing that this was my first workaway-experience, I didn´t quite know what to expect when Sylph reached out to me, offering a culture-exchange in the French countryside. She picked me up at the train-station in Mussidan,… read more one hour by train from Bordeaux, and off we went.

Having arrived safely at the farm shortly after, she offered me my very own chambers, complete with a private bathroom and a work-station, and allowed me some time to get settled. After that we sat down for a delicious meal that Sylph had prepared, and our first talk.

Perhaps the weirdest thing about my two-month stay, is the fact that it did not at all feel like a two-month stay:

I performed all sorts of tasks at the farm, like cutting bamboo, clearing brambles, wood-cutting, trimming rose-bushes, weeding and minding the animals (5 sheep, two cats, two hens and 1 old dog). I did not know alot about gardening or farming to begin with (and I still know only too little), but as I performed these tasks they gradually peaked my interests, and before long I found myself taking great delight in books with names like "The Amish Way", "How to be a Gardener", "Making your own Compost", "A beekeeper´s manual", "The Lost book of Herbal remedies" and so on. Sylph´s library is an absolute treasure-trove, with a wide range of very good books on a great variety of topics, from homekeeping, gardening and farming to the fine arts and philosophy, and she happily lent me many of her gems. These readings, in turn, allowed me to connect more easily to the work I was doing, and the animals I was minding.

It was Sylph herself, however, that made the stay truly special.

She was in all things the perfect host: She was accommadating, providing me my own quarters of the house, making a bicycle available for use, and offering to drop me off in town or at the train-station whenever I felt like going exploring. She brought me to markets and towns, and she went out of her way to make sure i was invited to lunches and socials. Sylph is also an excellent cook, keeping a very rich kitchen, brimming with coffee and tea, herbs and spice, milk and honey, bread and meat and eggs, oils, yoghurts, salads and vegetables and all the rest.

But Sylph is also a wonderful woman in her own right. She was energetic and joyful, always in a contagiously happy mood, readily sharing her interesting ideas and thoughts, and passing on to me many personal stories. We laughed and joked alot, but we also mused more deeply on many an arresting subject.

I´m very thankful for the experience, and for all the opportunities, joy´s and insights my stay with Sylph provided me. I dare say I made a Friend.
