We are in Sri Lanka until the end of February 2025. We are interested in volunteering, community projects and human connection over mainstream tourism.

Beschreibung

We are a family of four who have made the decision to leave our home behind and travel around Asia for a year. This journey was motivated by our desire to explore new opportunities and provide our young children with a more enriching education. We’ve come to realize that there’s never a perfect time for a trip like this, and we could always find reasons to delay it indefinitely. So, we’ve chosen to take a leap of faith, trusting that everything will work out. Our focus is on connecting with local communities and sustainability, rather than engaging in traditional tourism. We aim to spend time truly getting to know each place we visit, hoping to meet like-minded people and build meaningful relationships along the way.

Georgie and I are qualified TEFL teachers but have yet to teach formally. Our youngest: Oliver, aged 5, is starting to learn to read and our eldest: Emily, aged 9, loves reading. Emily also loves to help Oliver read.

During our travels, Georgie and I will share the task of homeschooling our children and earning a digital income. I have a strong background in instruction, digital media, and Georgie in service and tourism. We are highly adaptable and eager to give back to the places we visit.

Was noch ...

As parents, we try to keep tech time to a minimum and try to spend quality time together as a family every day - especially at mealtimes. After dinner, we often play board games in preference to TV. However, we are not perfect and have the occasional binge! We also like to go on adventures.
