Hello everyone! I am Ivy^^ I am an international student from China, currently studying in the United States. My given name is Miaorong, In my country, “miao” means “sapling”, and “rong” is refers to a flower called “Fu rong”, which is a hibiscus. I believe my parents wished for me to grow up like these harmonious and peaceful plants—tiny but powerful. I love my name, when you pronounce it, it seems like you are singing some lighting rhythm. When I came to the United States, I found that the name has a little bit difficult to pronounce for some people, so I chose an English name for myself – “Ivy”. I think I chose this name probably because it has similar power to my Chinese name. So you can call me Miaorong or Ivy. This is the story of my name. I love exploring new things, have a passion for adventure, and especially enjoy quiet solitude and the beauty of nature. My life dream is to travel around the world and experience different ways of life.

I speak fluent Chinese, conversational English, and some basic Japanese, and I’m currently learning Spanish. I can cook delicious Asian dishes—haha, let me cook for you if there’s a chance! I enjoy drawing simple, cute, colorful sketches and love watching artists at work. I also know a bit of guitar. I’m especially fond of animals—cats, dogs, chicks, bunnies, birds, deer—I love them all! When I’m home alone, I enjoy watching movies and have seen many interesting ones. I also enjoy music; my favorite genre is lofi, and my favorite singer is Lana Del Rey. I think I have an international perspective, having experienced many interesting cross-cultural interactions, and I’m now open to accepting various cultures. Nature is my comfort zone, and my dream is to live peacefully in a forest.

Was noch ...

This is my first year in the U.S., and I’m very excited to be here and meet so many interesting people. I love forests, streams, and lakes, and I’m obsessed with beaches and sunsets. My parents are both in China, and I have twin younger brothers. My family all love me so much. I especially enjoy eating ice cream and fries. My goal is to try fries from every restaurant around the world and pick the best one^^
