Beschreibung

Hello, my name is Hilde, 32 years old, from the Netherlands.

Beginning this november, I’m starting my solo-travel adventure around Portugal, to discover what it's like to travel alone, see some more of the world, and gain new experiences. Part of this journey is also to get to know myself a little better and find out about more sustainable and nature related lifestyles.

Before this summer I was living in the city and working a job in art education, but I found myself sometimes getting frustrated with this 'work' life. That's why I decided to cancel my city residence and move into my small garden house for the summer, and spend more time working in the garden, eating my own produce, and swimming. Now that autumn is arriving and winter will be there soon, I am looking for an alternative to spending the cold and wet Dutch winter in a small non isolated cottage with no running water.

I would describe myself as an open minded, creative and caring person. I like spending my free time with friends, in nature, swimming and hiking, as well as working in my little garden. Cooking is also an interest, learning about healthy eating and growing and cooking my own vegetables. I am a responsible person, who likes to help other people and tries to learn something from every situation. Although I like socializing with people, I am also rather introverted, and sometimes need some time to be alone and recharge my battery.

I have work experience from different jobs I have held thoughout my life, but I have never been on a workaway trip. This makes me very excited to have a new experience, and I hope to get to know you all soon!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

From a teenager onwards, through my days as an art- and art education student I have always worked different jobs, from a cheese shop to harvesting potatoes. During and after my studies I worked as a "home-carer" for people who could no longer run their household alone. This gave me experience with all kinds of work around the house as well as teaching me to deal with different kinds of people.

After high school I started art school, as I had always loved drawing and creativity. After two years I decided to specialize in art education. This is the field I still work in: mainly I enjoy giving workshops for children, teaching them to be creative in a playful and caring way.

Besides this I spend part of my time living in a small garden house, and living off the land as much as possible. This gave me some skills in planting, maintaining, harvesting and cooking vegetables, as well as the many maintenance jobs that need to be done.
