I’m an avid language learner. Being able to talk to others in their native tongue fills me with joy and pride. I started out with English, but I’m learning new languages now. And living in Turkey and being able to pick up the language here is so inspiring and valuable as well for me. So, oftentimes I can’t help but ask my Turkish friends how to say something in their language because it really piques my curiosity.

Also, I’m really big on music and singing. I feel like singing is my true power in life and it always gives me an outlet to be my true self. I mostly prefer American music, especially from the 90s. I doubt there was ever a day when I didn’t hum my favorite songs.

Another thing I love is travel. I visited Antalya, Istanbul, Olympos, Cappadocia, Kas, Fethiye, Konya and Alanya. Now I wanna add more places to my list or explore bigger cities. Traveling solo for me is about having direction in life and being the creator of your own journey, which is really inspiring. Expecially after I spent my first year in Turkey only in Alanya. On my trips, I made so many memories and met amazing people in hostels, which is yet another thing I love.

For me, hostels are like a summer camp for adults. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and exchanging energy with them, chilling in the common area, making meaningful connections.

Last but not least, I love my nomadic lifestyle. Being able to work from any place is pretty amazing!

I would love to share my English and Russian with you, which I both speak fluently. I’m a teacher myself so I know how the learning process works, so I’m happy to share advice on learning as well as provide speaking practice. Also, I’m putting a lot of effort into my Turkish now, so I’m looking for a host who enjoys answering questions about Turkish!

Was könntest du arbeiten?
-Russian is my native tongue. I also speak English fluently (actually, I’m an English teacher). I’m A2 in Turkish (can hold a conversation about basic things. Have been learning for around 9 months now). Also, I’ve got a little Chinese knowledge from my university. And I know how to teach languages as well.

-Great communication skills. I’m a very talkative and open person and usually don’t shy away from a discussion. All my jobs (shop assistant, teacher) were related to communication. I worked at the biggest amber store in Russia, where we had around 20 groups of Chinese tourist each day, and I even was an employee of the month once. Now I’m teaching English online.

-I can sing pretty well=) mostly I sing American songs, but I can share Russian music as well

-People tell me I make good pictures and write well, so I’d be happy to help you out with your social media if you like

-Volunteered at a hostel in Antalya and did housekeeping

Vlad's communications skill, breaking the ice and starting a conversation is the best. I bet, with this attitude, he is a good teacher as well.
He helped us during our low days, which is appreciable, and we're thankful for that.

Thanks for the opportunity to explore Isparta and its surroundings.
Overall, I enjoyed my time in the cafe. I did meet some really nice Turkish people there and it felt gratifying and fulfilling to help them with English. And playing card games was hands down one of the most fun things ever. Sometimes you have to employ all your communication… read more skills to start up a conversation and keep it flowing because guests might be shy and some other volunteers might have different levels of talkativeness as well, but it’s still a skill worth working on.

Now the place is not doing as well as before in terms of customers, unfortunately. During my stay, normally there were about 3 guests most of the time (sometimes more, sometimes zero). You still get to interact with Turks, but the atmosphere wasn’t very lively on most evenings (there were exceptions like when we did karaoke). But things might change soon, so just ask in advance before you come.

I would love to highlight how great Maya, the manager for volunteers, is. She was extremely understanding and helpful, just a truly nice person. I feel like she made my stay a lot better and was one of the favorite people I met there. Always responsive and willing to talk.

There were no trips during my stay because the manager who organized them was away for months (he’s back now though, so maybe it will change), but I still visited two lakes around and did some walking around Isparta.
Isparta is a cozy town with plenty of cheaper cafes. I enjoyed the ambience of the city. There are some great parks about 30 min walk from the apartment.

There are no pets in the apartment but the owners friend may occasionally bring theirs.

As for the apartment, it was indeed really hot at night and I wish more had been done to solve the issue. But it was still bearable for me although I did wake up at night often. But the heat wave should be well gone by now anyways. The apartment is good. There are working spaces with decent Wi-Fi in case you need one. Quite spacious. The kitchen is okay. Up to 4 people in a room. The shower was okay as well. And very central. As for food supplies, don’t really count much on them. They are present, but very little. Like pasta and rice, tomatoes and cucumbers in bulk, but that’s it basically. But that’s not too important in my opinion.

Overall, I can recommend the place if you’re looking to explore the region and do a chill job in return. Thank u for the opportunity. I would love to be back again later=)

Vom Workawayer (Vladislav) für Host (New design hostel located in ...)

It was a truly magical experience. The place is stunning thanks to the owners being pro architects. When u enter it, you enjoy the modern beauty of the hostel, cozy and spacious garden.

The people were family to me. The owners are super friendly and so is their dog who comes around every now and then with them. The stuff just feels like family.… read more Olga, Ates, Furta and Serenay each made my stay special. They taught me Turkish, we had conversations and stuff. I really felt like home in that place. Because if you feel like going out, go for it, but if you feel like recharging, you can do that either in the garden in the hammock or in your bunk because there are curtains and you can get some personal space, which is so key sometimes.

The tasks were easy to follow and not too difficult, just housekeeping 4 hours a day. There are check lists, which is great because instructions and expectations are very clear. And mind you, I’m very easily grossed out by things, but the tasks were fine even for me. No cleaning like toilets usually (maybe once during ur stay). So don’t be afraid. Of course, its not chill work, you need to make beds, especially top bunks are a struggle ahaha, but nothing too difficult really. I just listened to music most of the time and talked to the receptionist during breaks. And it’s like exercise as well ahah. And they are flexible with your days off and shifts as well.

Most importantly, it’s a perfect place to meet new people. I made so many friends during my 3 weeks there, especially the other volunteer. People just sit in the common area and talk, especially in the evening and there are plenty of board games if you feel like them.

The location couldn’t possibly be better, just a 2 minute walk from a big grocery store, and a 10 min walk from the bay where u can enjoy one of the best views of the whole Antalya. There are also stray cats in the garden occasionally. Trams to the bus station and the airport are also close by.

There are weekly events like pub crawls, movie nights, burger parties (vegan ones included), quizzes, so you’ll sure find something to do. Plus, I just can’t stress it enough how many people you can potentially meet there that are open and fun. So even if some events aren’t your thing, you will sure find ways to enjoy yourself.

Overall, it was my best work away so far in terms of conditions and people. I highly recommend it to anyone! Thanks a lot!

Vlad is a responsible, friendly and tidy person who is good at housekeeping and communication with guests. He is kind and and has a positive attitude and attention to detail, making his an asset to any team. She would definitely hire his again in the future! :)
