Hi everyone! I'm Gizem and I was born in Aegean region of Turkey right in the foothills of Mount Ida. We always had a garden to grow own our vegetables. We took care of our gardens as family.
I completed my Bachelor's degree in Archeology in İzmir and simultan cously I spent time at a pyrography workshop. I believe this period nourished my aesthetical perspective. After completing university. I went back to my hometown and started designin and prolucing necklace with mushrooms, flowers, all plants that I found on Mount lda. this is also how I learned basics of carpentry.
I love feeling the nature catching its frequency and that nurtures me. I lived with l my grandmother for a while, she has great knowledge about local plants. I learnt a lot from her but since the techniques I learnt were only traditional ones, I decided to enhance my knowledge with formal education. Then I studied Medicinal and Aromatical Plants. Here I took a lot of fun classes such as natural dyeing techniques, organic farming, herbalism, botany (for local plants), gardening, practical chemistry techniques (making soap, cleaning products, candles, perfumes). I was mesmerized by the ways of working with the nature for the wellbeing of others and I felt one with the nature even more.
Having a respectful and sustainable perspective is important for me. It’s hard for me to just throw away something. Because I think there is a way to create art from what is considered trash. This is a way for me to show my respect to the earth.
Nowadays I have been working in a city to save some money. I've been planning a trip to South America to experience different languages, flora and fauna also to organize our garden using permaculture in the future.
