Hello everybody!

My name is Galya, I am from Bulgaria and love to roam around this amazingly crazy world, looking for peculiar stories, authentic personalities and new causes to dedicate my time and passion into.

I am still a "baby" volunteer in Workaway - so far I don't have any experience, using this platform. However, I have participated in a variety of exciting and inspiring projects, mainly in the education and social work field. My most favorite and long-term volunteering experience was The Refugee Project in Sofia, Bulgaria. Our team created interactive art and language lessons for children with immigrant background from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Later on I worked as a social worker in one of the refugee camps in Sofia, teaching teenagers, organizing excursions and events, but most of all - having great fun :))) I miss those days with all my heart.

Besides teaching and being creative for and with youngsters, my passions are spread within the fields of literature, theatre and photography. One of my dreams is to open one day (hopefully soon) a community cultural centre, where people of all ages will have the opportunity to express themselves, read, write, perform and share inspiration :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I consider myself a good communicator, who loves and has lots of experience working with children from different ages and backgrounds. I also love talking and sharing stories and useful information with people in general, so I believe I could make travelers and tourists feel at home anywhere in the world. I graduated form Archaeology and feel strongly connected to cultural heritage and history - from simple advice to creation of interactive activities, guidance in the past, present and future is my thing. If you are looking for a time machine, I am your person :)

Was noch ...

I adore nature - hiking, kayaking, swimming, getting lost, hitchhike in the middle of nowhere.

I can't live without museums and galleries. But not those old school boring types of museums. I love museums that interact with and include their audiences. Anyways, if there is a building that needs a bit of excitement, I could try to create it myself! :)

I grew up in a city, but each summer I was going to the villages nearby where my grandparents used to live and helped them in the garden and with house keeping. Recently I haven’t been very active in this lifestyle and may have forgotten a skill or two. But! I am very keen on going out of my comfort zone by accepting new challenges and helping meaningful causes to thrive.
