Dear friends,

My partner and I are two young Canadians who have set out on a mission to explore and learn from this beautiful world - starting with the Americas!

In February 2024 we quit our jobs and left everything behind to drive from Toronto, Canada to Ushuaia Argentina, the most Southern city in the world, to learn from, and document everything we can.

We have three main goals for this trip:

Explore the Unbeaten path
Learn from the individuals and experiences we encounter along the way
Share and develop our stories, skills, and talents

One of the ways that we believe that we can accomplish these goals is through Workaway.

We are passionate, driven and hardworking individuals who are motivated by challenge and a desire to grow and learn. We have a diverse range of work and life experience that has shaped us into great team workers, learners, and leaders.

We are inspired by the people who are making a positive impact in the world and would love to be a part of that work. We believe we’ve struck a useful balance of working well with others while also being independent and competent workers, ourselves.

Written communication and storytelling experience writing feature articles for Halifax Magazine, essay-based creative non-fiction articles, natural and landscape film-photography portfolio creation, website development and over-all passion for the creative arts
*Degree in International Development and Journalism from Dalhousie University

Customer service:
3 years experience as a server in the competitive and fast-paced Toronto restaurant industry

Management/leadership skills:
10+ years in childcare work as Camp Counsellor and Head of Swimming, Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor, and Production Coordinator for Clerisy Entertainment (documentary production company)

Alex-
Analytics:
Senior Connections Coordinator and Database Manager for Raven Events-The Aboriginal Business Match (Advanced Business Match), Mathematics Minor at the University of Ottawa
*Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa

Customer Service:
Sales Strategist, Analyst, Manager, and Barista for Oakwood Espresso.
Bar Manager and Mixologist for Böhmer

Entrepreneurship and Creative Development:
Managing Director and Co-Founder of Optimism Sandwich (Film and Media Production Corporation) - Cinematography, Video Editing, Creative Direction, Brand Development & Marketing

Both-
Team Players:
Experience working in both small and large scale group settings as a team members, teachers and leaders

Adaptable:
Experience in fast paced environments problem solving, pivoting, being resourceful, rapidly learning while providing competent and creative, critical skills.

Adventurous:
-Experience living off-grid and in nature, experience in shared living/working environment, camping and survival skills, swimming, hiking, climbing, yoga
*We have been living out of our converted 2006 Toyota Matrix for the last three months, driving from Toronto, Canada to here! (Taking the scenic route)

Teaching:
Gabbie is a swimming instructor and aspiring yoga instructor
Alex is a Latin ballroom dance instructor and coffee expert/barista trainer

We are both slowly learning Spanish but neither of us are fluent yet, we would love to exchange language skills!

We are both up for any task to learn something new, no-matter how arduous or difficult it may be!

Both Alex and I have a background in documentary filmmaking and will be filming and documenting the entire process of our travels. We would love to work together to share your story if that would be something of interest to you.
