Hello! Our names are Tracy and Jordan Day. We have a 5 year old son, Wyatt, and a 12 year old shihtzu, Clementine.

As we discovered more of who we are, we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the city to pursue a more simple, nature-based lifestyle. We joined workaway in 2022 and have enjoyed the experiences and growth it has led to. Our ultimate dream is to build a cob house on our own homestead, and spend our time rehabilitating the earth and its animals. While working toward this goal, we are hoping to offer our hard work and resources to assist others. We would also welcome any knowledge or advice that others have to offer. We would love to raise our son to respect nature, trust new experiences, and for him to truly understand how to live in harmony with the planet. We hope that this can be an educational experience for all, and an example to him of what hard work and determination can achieve.

Wyatt is currently being homeschooled and would welcome the opportunity to broaden his world and experiences. He enjoys exporing his creativity, loves to learn about space, and enjoys the freedom of being able to pursue his own interests. We are looking for a community where he can both learn to fit in with those around him, but also have the opportunity to discover who he truly is.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We can offer various types of help. I (Tracy), am very detail-oriented and love to assist with deep cleaning and organizing. For the past two years, I have maintained an AirBNB rental that has upheld a 5 star rating for cleanliness, as well as assisted in the overall care and maintenance of the community structures.

I also have experience with handling animals and have assisted with horse and goat care and maintenance in the past. A decade of my life was dedicated to dog training and grooming. I am open to learning new tasks, and would love to find my best role in the farm life we are pursuing.

Jordan is quite strong and very adept at hard work and heavy lifting. He enjoys gardening and has a vast knowledge of various plants and ecosystems. In the past two years, he singlehandedly built a new greenhouse, plotted, planted, and has maintained over 300 plants for our current community. His hard work has dramatically assisted toward their goal of self sustainability and healthy living. His ultimate goal is to understand how all of the pieces of homesteading fit together, and the most efficient ways to combine them.

Jordan is also an excellent cook, and is able to accommodate many people and dietary needs. He currently enjoys cooking daily for 10+ community members.

What We Want Long Term:

Our ultimate goal of workaway is to assist on our journey toward personal growth and land ownership. We would love to own a homestead, build a cob house, grow our own food, and provide our resources to assist others on a similar journey. We believe all people have the right to food, shelter, safety, and community, and we are hoping to use what we learn to be able to provide them.

As a family, we love to play together, sing together, and laugh together.
I create macrame pieces as a creative outlet, and Jordan enjoys playing various instruments. We both also enjoy learning and researching new topics to help broaden our knowledge and understanding of the world. We would be happy to share our interests with you as well.

Some of the concepts that we are interested in learning more about are: permaculture, regenerative farming, foraging, hydroponics, farm animals, building cob/straw bale housing, vermaculture, mycology, bee keeping, composting, preserving and canning. Every bit of information that you could share would be an opportunity for our family to grow and develop the skills that we will need to live the eco-friendly lifestyle that we intend.
