Hi there! My name is Daphne, I am a carpenter apprentice from Kingston, Ontario, Canada looking for new carpentry-related experiences to build up my confidence and gain new skills in this field. I joined WorkAway 3 years ago when I lived in England and had a fabulous WorkAway experience working at a chateau in the South of France- an incredible time I'll never forget!

Over the last three years I have done a 180-degree career change from teaching music (cello) to starting this new path in carpentry. I will have been at my first apprenticeship in Doors and Windows for a year this July and have loved the folks I work with, as well as grateful for the skills I've learned being a service technician.

So if I have a great apprenticeship already, why am I back on WorkAway?? It is my dream to build tiny homes or sustainably built & highly efficient/green energy structures one day to provide an opportunity for everyone to live in a healthy and affordable home. I'd love to connect with people here who share similar views and maybe have a project on the go they could use some help with!

Whether that be to work on an organic farm, experience the routines of those who are living off the land, alternative energies, building althernative dwellings- you name it, I'm up for it!

I am very passionate about many things, but most of all would be music and travelling. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in 2016 and still teach music today part-time. I am a diligent and hard worker; I enjoy doing various DIY projects and renovations for clients, but love relaxing in my downtime with my cockapoo pup named Oreo and my wonderful partner. Indoor and outdoor plants have been a saviour for me in difficult times and I love to be out on a bike... pedal and motor bike ;)

I grew up in rural Ontario, Canada as the eldest of six children. I love being outdoors and connected with nature, it is something I find very therapeutic whilst living a busy life. I love pets and am a non-fussy person!
