- Name: Daniel
- Profession: engineer (software & telecommunications) + musician.
- Passions: music, doing sport, learning new things, travelling.
- Workaway experiences so far: 1 (great!)
- Currently living in a pleasant neighborhood of Madrid.
- Family: Currently without descendants. Oldest of 3 siblings. Parents and nephew nearby.
- Usual lifestyle: active, busy, city-based.

Right now I work as senior software engineer in a research and development department at a travel tech giant and I studied telecommunications' engineering (specially the audiovisual, electronics and telematics side). More details in these pages (although lately I do not update them):

I am musician too, however it is not my profession although sometimes I perform on stage. Playing guitars and cajon mainly; progressing on singing and keyboard playing. My cajon and vocal coaches are very good ones. Much of my music skills were self-learned with care. Versatile on music styles. Trained on cajon at Amor de Dios, which is one of the most recognized flamenco schools worldwide. Extremely interested in learning more around music and sharpen skills. Music is my main passion but I also like to do sport (hiking, cycling, football, swimming, ...), learn new things (notably in languages, techniques, technology, business, entrepreneurship, etc.) and of course, travelling.

I have travelled alone and accompanied. The nature and execution of my trips have been varied and optimal. Acquaintanes and friendships tell that I do great at their planning. I have international spirit and preference towards focusing on one area/path because it allows to discover the local offer deeply and make better connections with the places and their people. Countries already visited are listed below. Examples of such spirit:

1. I am alumni of an NGO that connects people by organizing several events that benefit students, universities and companies (at that time, 95 universities in 33 countries; being the largest student association in Europe: see www.best.eu.org). Among others, I became main organizer of a summer course in Madrid, delegate of our local group in a regional meeting abroad, team leader in touristic and social tasks and of course a teammate offering general support.

Summarizing, I am a creative, learning and travel person; growing in these three directions always. That's why I joined Workaway. I value my time and what I learn and experience from the exchange, so do not expect me to just being looking for a cheaper getaways or any kind of exchange.

I am open to your proposals: do not hesitate to reach out to me because I am social, empathic and flexible.

My completed Workaway experiences so far:
- Stay at big old stone&wood house close to Vitoria-Gasteiz, with wood workshop and garden. Focus on building refurbishment. Learned a few refurbishment and building techniques, plus a bit of CAD/CAM tooling and the workshop. Explored such nice region, where I enjoyed the nature around and the activities with the local people. (Dersu, please remember to register your feedback here whenever you can!)

Just enquire and we will see. If I do not have such skill and it interests me, I would spend time training myself for getting at least a base beforehand. The next list is not exhaustive:

1. Teach/contribute on whatever you found in my profile, like:
1.1. Play musical instruments, music styles (including flamenco), composing.
1.2. Software engineering, programming, telecommunications, audiovisual technologies, acoustics, electronic instrumentation, communication networks, payments and travel tech, ...
2. Manage projects and events (schedules, budgets, fund raising, marketing, teams, etc.).
3. Usage of languages: Spanish, English and French mainly, perhaps German. In addition I am able to read Cyrilic alphabets and understand a bit of Italian, Portuguese and Slavic languages.
4. Make personalized travel arrangements (at least in Europe) and offer touristc information (city tours included).
5. Coach to optimize travel plans.
6. Coach in relation to career and job hunting.
7. Guide you through Madrid and its surroundings.
8. Active entertainment.
9. Riding a bike and basic repairs.

Due to time constraints I am unfortunately not good at cooking, but I am up to collaborate and learn during my stay.

3. Learn by doing on refurbishment, bricolage and gardening works. I would like to be able to do it myself, will be good for my future home or business.

  Sometimes yes, to some seasonal pollen and epithelium depending on the animal breed (with dogs and cats, not every one, it depends on the breed if the allergy bothers me or not). Antihistamine might fix me well.
