Hi, I'm Clara! I am 24 years old and Italian-German. I grew up in Italy, in a small village surrounded by nature, but with both languages and both cultures. I have just finished my studies and now I want to see more of the world!

I am a bright, energetic and adventurous young woman! What motivates me most is the desire to learn and broaden my perspectives! I love exploring, travelling, meeting new people and interfacing with other cultures and traditions. I consider myself an extremely curious and open person with a welcoming attitude towards others!

I like being outdoors and being active. I love contact with nature because it brings me so much peace and serenity, plus I feel like myself.

What makes me happy is to be helpful, to feel that what I do is useful and that it makes other people's lives better in some way.

I am a diligent and hard-working person with a great sense of responsibility. I am open to a wide variety of jobs, in fact I adapt easily and welcome challenges, confident that I can always learn something new. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty!

I grew up with three languages: my mum is German, my dad Italian and our neighbours and great family friends are English. I have always been immersed in a multilingual environment and from a very young age I found it cool to be able to switch from one language to another and be able to communicate with everyone. Now I realise how lucky I have been: knowing these languages has allowed me to come in touch not only with so many different people, but also with their way of seeing the world and living, and it has definitely broadened my perspectives. Since I am so fascinated by languages, I am now learning a new one, which is Spanish!

I speak three languages fluently: Italian, German and English. I am currently learning my fourth language, which is Spanish!

I just completed my Bachelor's Degree in "Communication, Innovation and Multimedia" with top marks at the University of Pavia (in Italy). Soon after, I decided to further refine my skills and knowledge by also obtaining a certification in "Digital Marketing".

I am a photographer and a drone pilot. I really enjoy capturing my adventures and documenting life's moments with photos and videos!

My work experience:
- I have worked in a video-wedding-production agency, taking care of the editing of videos with a strong emotional impact.
- I have been the content creator and social media manager of an Italian Beach Club.
- I have created several websites, including my own (https://claralabartino.wordpress.com/).
- I have given private English lessons to young children.
- I have worked in some notary offices, translating sales contracts from one language to another and testifying to their accuracy and truthfulness.

Besides this, I love to dedicate myself to personal projects, exploring new areas and activities. In 2020, for example, I became passionate about the world of crochet and started my own micro-brand of handmade and sustainable fashion pieces, publicising my project to raise awareness and promote a slow and respectful fashion system.

I love long conversations, company and moments of conviviality, as well as spending time with myself, meditating and reading (usually philosophy essays). I believe that in order to be at my best when I am with others, I also need moments of solitude, where I reconnect with myself!

IN SHORT: WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE THAT I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND YOU TO DO!! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING GOING TO CAÑAR, DON'T THINK TWICE, BUY YOUR TICKET NOW AND GO.

Paula and Antonio are… read more amazing people, I think I have never met someone so generous, with such pure and good hearts, I sincerely consider them family. I really admire them a lot because with humility and with apparent simplicity they are building something unique, which is growing day by day and attracting more people, from all over the world. The project is fantastic: during my stay I was in charge of developing the books and then teaching. One thing I really liked and for which I am very grateful is that I was given a lot of trust, Paula and Antonio believed in me from the beginning, but at the same time they always supported, guided and suggested me. I had no experience in teaching, however, thanks to Paula and Antonio I was able to learn a lot and live this experience that enriched me and made me grow. It was my responsibility to plan my lessons, write exams and later correct them. I recommend this volunteering to autonomous, responsible and creative people.
I remember before I went, I had asked Antonio by video call if it was also a culturally stimulating experience, I did not know what it was like to be in a small town in the mountains, if I could have a cultural exchange. My answer now is ABSOLUTELY YES. I think nowhere else have I learned as much about the culture, the people, the traditions, the ways of life, and the country in general as here in Cañar. Paula and Antonio always involved me in all activities even outside of the school. They even let me into their families. Together we went to celebrations (for example, to Inti Raymi, the indigenous sun festival, or to celebrate Carnival, another unforgettable experience), we went to soccer games, to birthdays, to visit indigenous friends in the field. In short, thanks to them, the opportunities for an authentic and profound cultural experience are countless.
In addition, on my days off I also visited other places on my own or with other volunteers. Cañar is very conveniently located; it is close to many other places of interest and allows you to travel and get to know quite a lot. During my volunteering, I have been to Cuenca, Ingapirca, Baños, Latacunga, Guayaquil, Playas, and Puerto Lopez.
Don't think twice; go and be part. If you can stay for the entire 13-15 week semester, that would be ideal, the children will really appreciate it and also this will allow them to have more continuity and stability. It will be an unforgettable experience for you, I promise you will not be bored, every day there will be something new, something that you too can learn and enjoy.

Dear Clarita,
There are stages in life that are very complicated, moments in which you are about to give up or have a hard time getting up, you arrived in that period of our lives and gave us the strength, joy and motivation to keep going, for this reason you are a very big blessing that came to our program and most of all to our family.
It could… read more be said that our program has a before and after, after your arrival, the changes have been significant and evident. You helped us develop the books that are now used at all levels of our school. You got involved in all the activities of our program as if they were your own and you always did it with great joy and dedication. It was almost 5 months that you shared with us and to think that at the beginning you were only going to stay for a month, thank you for that decision you made to stay with us longer.
Clara taught Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm to children and young people from 10 to 15 years of age, and on Saturdays from 08:30 to 12:30 to children and young people from 9 to 17 years old. As a teacher she was very responsible, creative and friendly with our students, she was always looking for strategies or activities that would help her improve her level of English, and the joy you felt when your students learned was incredible. All your students miss you very much, thank you for sowing hope in each one of them.
In our family, you leave us a very, very big void, we will never forget you and the doors of our house will always be open for when you want to return, thank you for making us happy with your crazy things, dances and spontaneous things that arose, but always characterizing you for your transparency, honesty and good vibes. We hope that the friendship and affection that we have for each other never ends and that you are our friend in whom we can continue to trust our secrets, sorrows and joys as we have been doing (no serás ingrata).
Dear hosts, if Clarita is interested in your program, give thanks to life and accept immediately, from the experience we have had, finding an honest person with very good intentions is becoming more and more difficult.

Querida Clarita,
Existen etapas en la vida que son muy complicadas, momentos en los que estas a punto de rendirte o te cuesta levantarte, tu llegaste en ese periodo de nuestras vidas y nos diste la fuerza, alegría y motivación para seguir adelante, por esta razón tu eres una bendición muy grande que llego a nuestro programa y más que todo a nuestra familia.
Se podría decir que nuestro programa tiene un antes y después, luego de tu llegada, los cambios han sido significativos y evidentes. Tu nos ayudaste a desarrollar los libros que ahora son usados en todos los niveles de nuestra escuela. Te involucraste en todas las actividades de nuestro programa como si fueran propias y siempre lo hacías con mucha alegría y dedicación. Fueron casi 5 meses los que compartiste con nosotros y pensar que en un inicio únicamente ibas a estar un mes, gracias por esa decisión que tomaste de quedarte más tiempo con nosotros.
Clara enseñó los días martes y jueves de 3 a 5pm a niños y jóvenes de 10 a 15 años de edad, y los días sábados de 08h30 a 12h30 a niños y jóvenes de 9 a 17 años. Como docente ella fue muy responsable, creativa y amigable con nuestros estudiantes, siempre buscaba estrategias o actividades que le ayuden a mejorar su nivel de inglés, y la alegría que sentías cuando tus estudiantes aprendían fue algo increíble. Todos tus estudiantes te extrañan muchísimo, gracias por sembrar esperanza en cada uno de ellos.
En nuestra familia, nos dejas un vacío muy muy grande, nunca te vamos a olvidar y las puertas de nuestra casa siempre estarán abiertas para cuando desees regresar, gracias por alegrarnos con tus locuras, bailes y cosas espontaneas que surgían, pero siempre caracterizándote por tu transparencia, honestidad y buenas vibras. Esperamos que la amistad y cariño que nos tenemos nunca termine y seas nuestra amiga en quien podamos seguir confiando nuestros secretos, tristezas y alegrías como lo hemos venido haciendo (no serás ingrata).
Queridos hosts, si Clarita tiene interés en su programa den gracias a la vida y acepten inmediatamente, por la experiencia que hemos tenido encontrar una persona honesta y de muy buenas intenciones cada vez es más complicado.
