Hi, some "facts" about my life, so far. Christof, born 26.01.1960 in West-Germany. Friendly divorced ;-), two Kids (boy 32; girl 28). I studied Art-Therapy, later Eurythmie (some kind of western spiritual dancing), I'm an educated Waldorf teacher. I teached about 15 years, all levels, from Kindergarden up to highschool. Started my carreer as a Selfemployed Business- and Life-Coach, for the last 25 years. Gave seminars to pupils and students how to find the best way to their job. Did trainings in small companies in teambuilding, coached many people in all levels of hierachies. The last years I worked as a Hypno-therapist and Regression (past Life) Therapist. I made the decision to stop my business and start travelling in Asia to fullfill my dream of practising my own Sadhana, spiritual life, working for the joy of working. I started in the Samarpan Dandi Ashram, Gujarat, India as a one year volunteer. It's an Ashram of my spiritual teacher, H.H. Sri Shivkrupanand Swamiji. As I'm a very skillfull person, still with a lot of power, in the ashram I mainly do the gardening, all Kinds of DIY and have an eye on optimizing structures and lifting some "standards".
No smoking, no alcohol, no drugs, Vegetarian,- sometimes fish...
Ah, and of course I travelled a lot, mainly Europe and India, Sri Lanka.
I did have some good Hosts in Turkey, in Sri Lanka and Nepal, a not so good one in Greece...;-)
As I keep on travelling, I'm open for your requests,- I prefer staying at least 4 weeks or more. Pleased to get in touch... :-)

I'm a very structured man, many experiences, many skills. But first of all I love,- "God", myself, the life, nature, you and everyone. I love to be around with mindfull people. I have a good sense for humor. I'm clear, respectful, reliable, honest and joyful. I'm intrinsic motivated, can be alone and/or in community. I can do all kinds hands-on-work, maintain, develop, organise, teach, coach, lead people, make work processes more efficient and effective, social media, taking care of animals.... I'm rather an early bird than an owl.🤗

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Help our family with ...)

I joined the family for 5 days in the middle of december, and this means wintertime. It will make a big difference, during which season you will stay there. All in all im really glad about this experience. And this is because the whole family is so openminded and heartfully. They allways cared for my wellbeeing. They picked me up on a bike and… read more when I left, they dropped me down to their little vegetable shop in the next village, means 10 km away. And I did have to care for myself. That's because the farm is on the northern side of the river, the valley, means sun shows up only at 9 till 3 in the afternoon and than it's getting pretty cold. They said, in the summer time it's a big advantage, because of the heat.
I learned a lot from the father, he, like the son, are speaking pretty good english. But the mother doesn't, like the young couple, that's working for the family. We had a lot of fun together. The mother is preparing such a nice and tasty food, wonderfull.
The hygienic standards and and facilities are the ones of the common village people. Means, one nepali-style toilet for everybody, no warm water, cold water shower from the bucket in the toiletroom. Nevertehless we went down to the river to have a bath in the icecold water and I enjoyed it much. In the summertime it will be more funny! There is no good footpath down to the river, you can do, if you like :-).
The little treehouse was my meditation place early in the morning. It's also possible to do Yoga there. Nevertheless it's not a place for sleeping, it's open to all sides and local people are wellcome there to have picknick. There is a building near by, that is waiting for some people who know how to install and finish the bathroom,- it has potential to become a nice place for a nice community. There could be so much work be done to make the vision come true. The gardens and fields are huge. And the shop is also ment to be progressed. There is no marketing, nothing, no advertising, no social media,- that's waiting for some workawayers. And no knowledge to. Not even in how to arrange the vegetables.
If you want to stay, I recommend you to bring your own bedding, sleeping bag etc., because what is given is old and not in a good condition. Expect the authentic rooms offered to be of low height, mostly dark and used beddings.
In short: step into an authetic local village experience, support a great vision of healthy organic gardening, enjoy the heartful family, the tasty food, have inspiring conversation, and care for yourself.
If you're on the farm, there is nothing around,- except nature. No shops, no restaurants, no great places, means, you have to have the ability to "entertain" yourself.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Help with gardening and ...)

In June 2024 I spend 17 days in this beautifull location and the small family, a couple an a two years old child, welcomed me heartfully. Thanamalwila, next little town, about 4 km away, is an non tourist area, great to explore the “normal” Sri Lankan life. The house is almost at the end of a field path, very quiet. I stayed in the flat on the… read more second floor, that means a bathroom with hot and cold shower, washing machine, a sleeping room with double bed, mosquito-net and AC, and a nice veranda, where you can enjoy the sounds of nature. That sounds like luxury, doesn’t it?
There are a few defects in the building structure, but it’s a rural area, and sometimes it is like this.
The family lives on the ground floor. He regards himself as a farmer, but the real life forces him to work as a day to day Labourer, and he hardly finds time to care for his own garden. But don’t expect organic farming.
That’s where the helping hand is needed.
And that was the main reason I came for. I started with big enthusiasm, unless I realized, that he doesn’t had a plan or structure himself. Because of this, his absence and his very basic English, conversation sometimes turned out difficult. We tried to solve this challenge by using Google Translator, and that worked surprisingly well. Nevertheless, agreements taken in the evening could change next morning when he received a call from his “friends”, where they are expecting him to come and what to do.
Unluckily after one week a small scratch on my foot turned out in a dangerous infection, and he was driving me to a doctor and hospital without hesitation. As the wound didn’t heal as fast as I expected, my staying turned out more and more into a burden for him, for he is a hard working man, and has to “stand by foot”, when he gets a job.
This is why I left 4 days before the expected time.
Without being really clear concerning money and payment [redacted]. That’s why I recommend you to rather make an agreement for a certain amount, that you should calculate in advance, so you wont be stressed with this question.
There is a national park nearby, but you can’t enter it from the village side, but the locals normally use the river, which is the natural border, for bathing and washing clothes. I took a bath twice, and at this time it was without danger and refreshing.
As a male, there was no conversation possible with the women, who is smiling all day long and is happy with her child. But she doesn’t do anything in the garden, so don’t wonder, why they have such a big property, but no garden that is maintained. She is an excellent cook, I’m sure as a woman you could learn a lot about authentic village cooking. After a couple of days I realized, that she cooks the same three times a day. [redacted]

To summarize,- if you’re interested in peeking in a rural and poor yet heartful Sri Lankan Buddhist family life, and you’re able to stay on your own, even when working, it will be a great experience for you. And make sure, the question concerning money is cleared.
The whole conversation and planning of the workaway is done by one of his brothers, who lives as a Buddhist monk in US. His English is excellent and the conversation is on an academic and reliable level, without his help and interfering it would have not been as easy as it was. It was a great joy to communicate with him. I wish them all the best.
