Beschreibung
We are a travelling couple from the United Kingdom, one Scottish and one English. We are travelling for a year as round South America and Asia. We have a wide verity of skills between us, with Cerys who has worked in hospitality her whole life training at Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland as well as training to be a butcher with Scotch Beef. She also worked as teaching assistant for several with children aged 3-6.Tristan has worked as a Jackaroo on a cattle farm in Australia and has worked outdoors for the last 8 years in a hands on job in a high threat and high tempo environment managing multiple people and vehicles.

They are both massive animal people who have grown up with dogs and horses. Would love to work/look after all kinds of an animals big or small. They have both graduated from university, one in politics the other in nutrition.

Tristan and Cerys were two of our favorite workawayers. They were lovely to be around, so helpful, and became good friends to us. They were both absolutely amazing with our children, who still talk about them 5 months later. We love them and hope they return to visit us someday!

Tristan and Cerys, what can I say? A couple with a beautiful and positive energy. They are passionate, capable, intelligent and a great laugh.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Help on a beautiful piece of ...)

The hostel. Where do we even begin. We volunteed here for 7 weeks. originally ment to be 4 weeks and I'm so glad we decided to extend. From the get go we were welcomed like family, like distant friends.

The work - we worked in shift rotation with the other two volunteers. that would be either 7.30-3.30 or 3.30 until close which would vary… read more depending on what the guests need were. During the am time we would be on reception working on the laptop. checking and replying to emails, check ins and outs and general guest questions. the evening shift you'd be on the bar, checking for emails and the occasional late check ins. now all of that sounds heavy but honestly it wasn't. we were provided full training for both the receptionist role and for the bar. and you were never alone or a text away to ask for advice but mostly the role was to help guests enjoy there stay. have a drink with them, chat away the night or recommend things to do (always refer to the activities book haha). there was sometimes a family dinner which were great fun. that would be the team's choice on what it would be. Lasagna, fish curry and taco bowls to name a few. they were lovely and got the guest to all sit together which is nice for solo travelers.

Accommodation- All volunteers where in a separate cabin away from the guest dorms or main area. Just a 2/3 min walk. the cabins where private rooms that were still in construction. when I say that don't imagine scaffolding or anything they were legitimat rooms with ceiling fans, big windows, big double bed and a full mosquito net. perfect if you ask me. there wasn't a loo but with only a 2/3 min walk to the main area it wasn't a issue. there was a outdoor shower for the volunteers. it was under the cabins and would look out to the jungle. (it was like a herbal essence adverts) very cool!

Food - all food is included. Once a week Dani and Guillaume would drive all the way to Santa Marta to do a big food shop for the hostel and provide fresh produce and non perishable items too. which is incredibly generous.

Facilities - the WiFi is incredibly strong for those that are working remote while volunteering. also great for bingeing Netflix on your night off. The kitchen. ohh the kitchen. I have never seen a better kitchen while travelling. it literally has everything you'd ever need. from a garlic crusher to a blender. it was wonderful. and it was immaculately clean.

Animals - Alfred, Mona, Chappie, Chia and mamma. three dogs and two cats. they are the most wonderful hostel pets ever. the dogs where the door bell and would give a bark or two or three or even four when people where coming up the hill but never ever in a mean or aggressive way. more like I'm very excited to see you way. we miss them already. often jump up on the sofa with you for a wee cuddle.

so over all if you get the change to volunteer here do it. if your timeline doesn't match up then change it. volunteering here has been such a memorable experience. Dani and Guillaume are truly wonderfully people. This is a very special place.
