Hello!

We are Brad and Aisha, a couple from the UK (England and Wales).

We’re about to embark on a year long trip travelling around Japan on a working holiday visa, starting in May 2024. We’re avid travellers who love to explore the world, try new things and meet new people. This will be our second long term trip we’ve taken together, having travelled around Europe and Southeast Asia together in 2022-2023. We’re outgoing people who love to explore the world, we love nature, science, films, books and good food! We have a vast experience in customer facing roles and LOVE to work with people. We’re entirely flexible with our trip around Japan and hope to use our Workaway experience to try new things, develop our existing skills, meet new people and fully immerse ourselves in Japanese culture.

We’re available for both long term and short term work and look forward to meeting hosts and travellers alike!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have a masters degree in chemistry, and Aisha has a bachelors degree in Biological sciences - we are both keen scientists and love nature. We have both previously tutored students in our chosen subjects and love to help people learn and develop their scientific skills. We both spent the summer working a busy festival season around the UK, working behind the bar and serving drinks at fast paced, incredibly busy environments. Previously we have worked in hostels in Krakow, Poland and Hiroshima, Japan. In Poland, our roles involved managing the dinner service for guests and ensuring the dining area was prepared and cleaned down to a high standard every night. In Japan we undertook general housekeeping roles, including cleaning, bed making, managing check ins/out, taking payments and even training of new staff members. In both hostels we ensured guests were involved in group activities and helped them make the most of their stay.

Professionally we have a vast experience in Customer service roles - We are highly organised and LOVE working with people and the public. We are both keen to immerse ourselves in the cultures we encounter - in preparation for our upcoming trip to japan we have been learning Japanese online and are really excited to develop our Japanese linguistic skills during our trip! We both love cooking - and while we've never cooked professionally, we love making meals for our families and friends and learning new recipes! Aisha is becoming a keen travel writer, having started a small travel blog when we travelled through 2022-23, she hopes to keep this up and document her trip and experiences around Japan.

Ultimately, we're willing to try anything and we're always up for learning new skills! We'll always strive to do our very best in whatever we can put our hands to! We've now even spent time doing manual labour/farm work and Surveying of Japanese Giant salamanders and their habitats. We're always excited to try new things!

Was noch ...

Ultimately our biggest passion is travel - we've undertaken a few long term backpacking trips together and love exploring new cultures, foods and and meeting new people. We have worked, lived and studied together and work particularly well as a team! We're both nerdy and love reading and watching films. We love nature, walking and particularly love to be near the sea. Aisha has a rather extensive knowledge of marine life - particularly octopuses which she loves and had the pleasure of studying during her degree. We LOVE a good quiz and are known as particularly great pub quiz hosts in our local pub!
