Hello there!
We’re Iker and Barbara — an adventurous, friendly international couple from Brussels who’ve taken a gap year from our jobs to travel, volunteer, and connect with people and places around the world.
We love the nature — whether it's hiking in the mountains, enjoying the sun by the beach, or discovering hidden spots. We also love meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and sharing stories over a good meal.
We enjoy making art (especially painting!), listening to live music, reading, and getting to know new people. We’re equally happy getting our hands dirty with practical tasks — gardening, working with animals, helping with projects around the house or in the community.
We’ve both volunteered in our home countries and traveled to many parts of the world, always looking to contribute positively and learn from others. Workaway feels like a perfect way to keep that spirit alive — giving back while discovering something new.
We’re open-minded, responsible, and genuinely excited to support hosts wherever we can. Whether it’s a creative project, community work, or simply helping around the home, we’d love to be a part of your journey too.

Between the two of us, we bring a wide range of practical, creative, and people-focused skills that we’re excited to share with hosts.
Barbara is a professional child protection social worker with a deep commitment to children’s rights and community well-being. She has also volunteered with children, helped distribute food, and worked as a bartender. Exceptionally creative, she makes her own art — from painting and clay work to handmade jewelry and sewing. She’s also a great cook, loves to prepare meals for others, and is skilled at creating beautiful media content — including photography, videos, and written articles to promote spaces and causes.
Iker is an engineer by profession, well-organized, reliable, and loves working with animals. I enjoy hands-on projects like small DIY repairs, tufting, and clay work. I’m also happy behind the bar, preparing drinks, or helping with tasks that require focus and structure. I genuinely enjoy supporting others and pitching in where needed.
Together, we speak a mix of languages:
Barbara: Slovak (native), English, German
Iker: Spanish (native), English, French
We’re both adaptable, open-minded, and enjoy collaborating with others. Whether it’s helping around the house or garden, supporting with social media and promotion, creating with our hands, or caring for children and animals — we’re motivated, friendly, and ready to help however we can.

Was noch ...
We’re big fans of board games — some of our favorites are Catan, Virus, and Dobble. We also love staying active through padel, cycling, diving, yoga, and pretty much any sport that gets us moving and having fun together!
