Je m'appelle Edwige, j'ai 61 ans et je suis française. Profession : Documentaliste en collège.

Depuis toujours, j'ai cherché à vivre en harmonie et en respect avec la nature et la Terre. Pour me détendre, j'aime me promener en silence, randonner en montagne, être entourée d'animaux, faire du travail manuel ou bricoler, regarder des films ou lire. J'aime aussi voyager pour découvrir d'autres cultures.

C’est ainsi que parfois, avec mon compagnon Luis, nous avons envie de tout laisser et de partir voyager.
Pendant trois ans (2019-2022), nous avons parcouru l’Amérique latine sac au dos, en faisant du bénévolat dans dix pays, de l’Argentine au Mexique. Une expérience i-nou-bli-able ! :-)
Plus récemment, nous avons passé l'hiver 2025-26 en Andalousie et avons fait du bénévolat dans 3 lieux différents, accompagnés de notre chienne Lokiz, discrète, agréable et qui nous suit partout.

Maintenant de retour en France, nous avons l'intention de visiter et faire du volontariat dans notre propre pays en commençant près de chez nous : le Sud-Ouest. Nous nous déplaçons en fourgon aménagé (que nous avons entièrement équipé nous-mêmes).

Le volontariat nous permet de faire des rencontres et découvrir des cultures. Aider et travailler ensemble, c'est mieux comprendre les modes de vie, partager et échanger, découvrir des coutumes locales. C'est aussi idéal pour améliorer ses compétences linguistiques !
Par ailleurs, cela nous offre une pause bienvenue pendant nos déplacements et nous permet de faire quelque chose de différent.

EXPÉRIENCES DE VOLONTARIAT
ITALIE : Réhabilitation d'un village de montagne abandonné avec murs en pierres sèches, remblaiement de chemins, jardinage, préparation des repas
FRANCE : Construction de maisons en paille et terre, constructions écologiques
AMÉRIQUE LATINE : travaux agricoles, soins aux animaux, maraîchage biologique, divers projets de bricolage/réparations et artisanat, construction, peinture, ménage, cuisine.
Entretien et accueil des clients en gîtes/hébergements et glamping.
ESPAGNE /ANDALOUSIE : pet-sitting, récolte d'olives, rénovation / entretien et bricolages divers, désherbage.

Me llamo Edwige, tengo 61 años, soy francesa. Ocupacion : bibliotecaria en escuelas.

Mi objectivo en la vida es de estar en armonia y respeto con la naturaleza y la Tierra.
Para disfrutar, me gusta mucho caminar y hacer trekking en la montaña, cuidar animales, leer o ver peliculas, trabajar con mis manos.
Y viajar para descubrir otras culturas.

Es asi que a veces, mi compañero, Luis, y yo, tenemos el deseo de dejar todo y viajar.
Durante 3 años (2019 - 2022), fuimos mochileros en Latino America, voluntariando en 10 paises, desde Argentina hasta Mexico. Una experiencia... inolvidable ! :-)
Mas recien, hemos pasado el invierno 2025-26 en Andalucia, voluntariando en 3 lugares distintos, con nuestra perra Lokiz, quien es agradable y nos sigue a todas partes.

Ahora, de vuelta a Francia,nos gustaria visitar y hacer trabajo voluntario en nuestro pais, empezando en el Sur Oeste. Viajamos en nuestro camper van (que hemos equipado todo nosotros mismos).

Voluntariando nos permite encontrar gente y descubrir culturas. Ayudar y trabajar juntos es entender como viven y compartir, intercambiar, apprender como las cosas se hacen aqui o allá. Tambien es perfecto para mejorar otros idiomas !!
Ademàs, eso nos permite hacer una parada en el viaje para hacer algo alternativo.

EXPERIENCIAS DE VOLUNTARIADO
ITALIA - Construccion para rehabilitar un pueblo abandonado en la montaña : parades de piedras, huerta, cocinar,...
FRANCIA : construccion de casas de barro y paja, construccion ecologica
LATINO AMERICA : trabajo de finca, cuidado de animales, huerta organica, varios bricolajes /arreglos y artesanias, construccion, pintura, limpieza, cocina.
Limpieza y atender a los clientes en hosteles / lodge / glamping.
ESPAÑA /ANDALUCIA : pet-sitting, cosecha de olivas, varios mantenimientos y arreglas, trabajo de finca y de huerto.

I am Edwige, 61 years old, French. I work as a school librarian.

My aim is to live in harmony and respect with nature and the Earth. As hobbies, I enjoy walking in silence, mountain hiking, caring for animals, doing crafts or DIY projects, watching movies or reading.
I also love to travel and discover other cultures.

That's why sometimes, my partner Luis and I feel like dropping everything and traveling.
For three years (2019-2022), we backpacked around Latin America, volunteering in ten countries, from Argentina to Mexico. An un-for-get-table experience! :-)
More recently, we spent the 2025-26 winter in Spain, Andalucia. There, we were volunteers in 3 different places, always with our dog Lokiz who is easy and follows us everywhere we go.

Now, we're back in France and we intend to visit and volunteer in our own country, starting in the South West. We drive our campervan (which we completely converted ourselves).

Volunteering is the best way to meet new people. Helping and working together make us understand and experiment other ways of life, share and discuss experiences, and discover local customs. It's also ideal for improving language skills !
Furthermore, it gives us a welcome break during our trip and allows us to do something different.

ITALY: Rehabilitation of an abandoned mountain village with dry stone walls, filling in paths, gardening, meal preparation
FRANCE: Construction of houses with straw bale and earth, eco-friendly buildings
LATIN AMERICA: Agricultural work, animal care, organic gardening, various DIY/repair and craft projects, construction, painting, cleaning, cooking.
Maintenance and guest reception in guesthouses/accommodations and glamping sites.
SPAIN /ANDALUCIA : pet-sitting, olive picking, various renovating and repairs, garden weeding.

Luis and I stayed 1,5 month (Nov-Dec) at Debbie's beautiful piece of land, with many orange and olive trees, located 10min walk from Orgiva and all shops.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Join our eco sustainable ...)

I am happy with :
- 4 dogs and 4 cats, all adorable
- great view on the bay from a very isolated place
- interesting house and quite confortable although stuffing hot in summertime (we had a bedroom, but we preferred go and sleep outside).

I feel unhappy with :
In summertime and for the 6 hottest months of the year, Mauro lives alone, so we… read more didn't find a fun family but a lonely man. Which we didn't know before we got there.
The communication was OK the first 2 days. Mauro talked a lot about himself, also said he'd take us out on his boat to see shark-whales and that he would even lend us his own car to go to the village (which is not that close). But then, he never mentioned it again. So we never went.
On the 3rd day, he told us we had to leave the following week because he (suddenly !) had a group of students coming and needed the whole place free for them.
Therefore and from then on, we needed internet to change our plans and see how and where to go next. But the wifi was very limited every day so it was complicated for us.

Most of the time, Mauro was in his own solitary preoccupations, so he usually seemed to forget we were there. The food was provided but we hardly ever shared a meal with him. Except for homemade gnocchis once (which were delicious, by the way).

Summers in Baja California are very very hot, so he agreed we could work early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Unfortunately, it rarely occurred since we hardly knew beforehand what Mauro wanted to be done for the following day.
He was getting up later than us, then he would go and feed the animals or water his plants, chores for which he didn't want any help. Then by the time we could ask what there was to do, it was already late. AND hot.

One evening, he said we could help him do some clay building. He gave tools to my boyfriend, showed him what to do, put himself at work as well and then just ignored me. When I asked, he said there were no tools for me. I felt insulted and very uncomfortable.
Another day, he never gave us instructions at all, so we wasted the whole day waiting, for nothing.
We would have liked to have at least some kind of time-schedule so that we could plan our work /free time.

But never-mind, just one week was enough and it was an experience. I will remember this place for the view, the starry nights and definitely for the dogs and cats who were so lovely and friendly.

We spent 10 days at Dan's place. It is an apartment located in a residential area in Culver City (got there by bus).
We had a basic private bedroom and we shared the bathroom with Dan. Meals and food were not provided. We did our shopping at a 10min walk store and Dan's kitchen is well equipped to cook, once it's been cleaned up.

Para llegar desde CCBBA sin auto, hace falta 1h30 con 2 trufis y despues, hay que usar su GPS y caminar 1 a 2km hasta el lugar de Monica, Jonathan y sus 4 hijos.

Esta es un lugar escondido y precioso.
A veces, la calor puede ser fuerte, la humedad esta en todas partes y los mosquitos son voraces, pero hay también mucho mas.
