Beschreibung

I'm a Belgian living in northern UK; I've recently quit my job to go explore Spain (living in my car) and Canada (hostelling and volunteering.)

I've traveled for the better part of my twenties, mostly outside of Europe, and did a lot of wwoofing and volunteering on farms, hostels and homesteads.

It's my desire to spend these next few months reconnecting with nature, people and myself through simple living and good conversation after five boring years sat in a pub.

I spend my downtime dancing, hiking, writing, running, practicing yoga, snowboarding in winter, playing guitar, most recently rowing, and above all, creating lasting connections with people. I love a good mix between art, exercise and socializing.

My hope is to one day live off grid myself and create a small community of like minded people, and host people from all over the world. Or perhaps open a small cafe and serve coffee to lovely locals and travelers. I haven't quite figured it all out yet!

I came to Canada with an IEC in 2012 and am coming back in 2025 to find a cozy place to live for a few years, or indefinitely. The areas I'm most interested in are the Kootenays, Vancouver Island and the Sea to Sky Highway/Sunshine Coast.

I hold a TEFL degree but have yet to teach English so I would love to have a go, or alternatively teach Dutch or a bit of Spanish. My dream is to become as fluent in Spanish as a native speaker.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

While traveling around Canada and the States, I was wwoofing on farms where I planted and harvested vegetables. I did some odd bits like herding goats and making fruit leather, etc. Occasionally I'd clean out a garage or babysit a few toddlers.

During lockdown, I started growing my own vegetables so I have some homestead/gardening knowledge outside of working on farms.

Last winter, I taught yoga at my local rowing club in Whitby and would love to teach or have someone join me during my morning/evening sessions.

I'm a very quick learner and am always eager to gain more skills, particularly in the realm of sustainability, permaculture and carpentry/DIY.

Was noch ...

I'm looking to socialize without drinking (I don't mind a drink but I need a break after living in the UK..) I love card games, board games, etc. Always up for a walk or a sunset hang.

I did a lot of cooking/baking as a chalet host so I don't mind helping out with meals as I do enjoy preparing lovely food.

I used to draw/paint a lot when I was younger but I've felt pretty uninspired recently, so I'd love to get creative with hosts if they're up for it.
