Hi! I have one month left in Nepal and currently looking for a meditation/yoga place combined with farming/WorkAway (or other work) if possible. If you know something, please hit me up:)

Beschreibung

Hi!! My name is Karen (23) and I will be traveling from March until the end of May, from the Netherlands to the beautiful country of Nepal! If you would like to know more about me, read further :).

I have studied Psychology (bachelor) in the Netherlands and took a gap year to think of which master I would like to attend. At the end of the gap year I knew what to study, though I also cherished the wish to do voluntary work outside of Europe. It felt as the best time to go now. For me, Nepal felt as a beautiful option to go to, as a safe, inspiring and beautiful country of nature (and people!) from what I heard. I am very much interested in the religions, the cultural believes, the hospitality and the people!

In Europe I have done voluntary work on organic farms in Portugal, as well as voluntary work in the Netherlands on cultural festivities. Currently I work at a organic café and shop with 3ha vegetable gardens which serves as a reintegrating place for people with distance from the labour market

Things that make my day are: honest and authentic encounters with people, whether I know them long or we just met. I love to share good conversations and having fun! Furthermore I love spending time in nature, it is where I can recharge the best. I love to work in the garden and to make nice meals. It is important for me to have respect for the nature and be mindful and thankful of what we get from it. Another thing I get lots of energy from, is music!! I've sung as a kid in choirs and played the piano, and I enjoy it lots to go live performances, concerts, as well as theatre and other performing arts. I can really be pumped and happy about the smallest things in the world haha: from a ray of sun to singing birds, from nice views to listening to people sing, from tasting delicious food to breathing fresh air :).

Was könntest du arbeiten?

- Academic skills: I have studied Psychology (bachelor) at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. There I learned academic skills as academic writing and reading, presenting and making critical notices. However, the subject of my studies interests me the most: people!
- Listening ear: I am eager to know people and to be an honest listener to their stories, their sorrows and wishes. I am loyal and take big responsibility for the people around me.
- Responsibility: I have worked as a contact person and responsible on several occasions: for children and their parents in children's choirs (at rehearsals and concerts), for musicians and visitors at music festivals, for collegues at my work.
- Initiative: I have organised and assisted producing music concerts and rehearsals, which I still very much enjoy to do!
- Disability: I help a friend with a physical disability with household tasks, walking outside and going to the market (and we're having fun!:)).
- Food preparation: I enjoy cooking nice meals, also for bigger groups (for instance my housemates, 9-20 people). I love to be creative with what food I can get, depending on stock and the season. At work I occiasionaly assist the chef in the kitchen.
- Languages: I talk English fluently, Dutch is my mother language and I can read and speak German well. I understand some French.
- Computer skills: I have helped my grandparents and others with digital problems (i.e. Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Wordpress, printing devices) and am able to search for solutions through i.e. the internet. I have been in the board of a student's singing choir where I was responsible for the social media accounts and the website.
- WorkAway: This will be my first WorkAway experience! Though I have worked with the initiative 'Wwoof' (WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms). I have been living for three weeks on two organic farms in Portugal, where my tasks included sewing, harvesting, mulching, pruning, composting. Furthermore I enjoyed taking care of the kids at times or cooking dinner. At home, I also have a vegetable garden where I like to work in :).
