This is an opportunity to live in a small, rural town in a situation where travelers can meet the locals in a friendly, relaxed, social environment.
We are sprucing up an 1870's pub on the main street of Lumsden. We are also renovating and landscaping an old 1900 farmhouse on an acre. General maintenance, kitchen handing, landscaping, building, interior work including painting are some of the tasks. We are also establishing an organic kitchen garden at the hotel and another at the house. We enjoy hospitality and you will enjoy great food. Queenstown is less than an hour away so if you stay long enough to take weekends off you can easily head up there for the ultimate Kiwi night life experience. For outdoor adventure there are great walks and trails nearby. Milford is only a couple of hours away.................
We also need a couple to housesit for us from the 01st June 2020 for 10 days.
So we would like a couple who have their own car preferable....you would just be taking the dogs to the river close by for their daily walk and swim and just generally keeping the house tidy (they are messy dogs!!) so you must be an avid animal lover as these guys are our fur babies and are very spoilt and demand attention but lots of fun. We also have a duck pond and ducks that need feeding. The house is old but warm and charming ,your on an acre of private gardens close to the township. We will provide all the food and costs etc so a good chill out time if you have been travelling rough as I know you can do at times...let me know if you are keen anyone planning travelling to southland in winter 2020 and we can talk. if .. cheers Janel

We have mixed accommodation including a two bedroom flat with a big lounge to share, a caravan and a bus set up for accommodation. There's a pool table, , the lounge has a large TV with a big collection of DVDs, high speed internet and a minor library of books to enjoy on a rainy day. We are also located 15 minutes walk from a nice river, great for swimming on a hot day.
We are located in Lumsden in Northern Southland between Queenstown, Te Anau and Invercargill. We are surrounded by beautiful rivers, mountains and rolling hills. We will like you to stay at least a week, but we have longer term positions available at the hotel for those who might be interested.
There is little to no public transportation in this area, so having your own vehicle, while not required, is highly recommended.
