  Hello 🌞
  We are Paul & Victoria and we moved full time to the amazing village of Ostrov in the Vratsa region of Bulgaria in October 2024 with our two dogs 🐕
  It's a large village that sits on the River Danube and has several small food shops, a pharmacy, a petrol station, post office, community centre, church ⛽️ and a couple of bars.
  We have been busy renovating our house since we arrived and we recently took on a new property in the village which we aim to rent out to fellow house hunters and renovators in the area.
  We have never used Workaway before but we decided to give it a go as it looks like it could be a good opportunity for both us and a member of Workaway 🤩
  Our tiny house sits almost in the middle of the village and has an incredible view as well as unbelievable sunsets in the evening. We have been working hard on the interior which is almost finished now and have had built an outside bathroom 🚻 with a compost toilet and shower 🚿.
  We are about to have some exterior plastering finished and then we will be having the building resprayed.
  We are creating one camper park up spot and one glamping spot (to make use of a bell tent we bought and used back in England) and this is why we created a shared use outside toilet and shower room.
  We are still busy renovating the house we live in and we have come to the Workaway site to see if there is anyone who would like to stay in our self contained tiny house whilst assisting with the gardening and landscaping that we really need help with right now to make the outside nicer for when people come to stay. 🌸
  Paul will meet you each morning and will work alongside you as much as possible throughout the day. He may have to flit between the two houses as there may sometimes be tradesmen at our main house carrying out works which he needs to be there for.
  There may also be the odd job over at the main house that we need help with but the rental house and getting that ready is the priority.
  Victoria works full time but we will ensure we create opportunities for everyone to come together.

  Workawayer's will benefit from the cultural exchange by having the opportunity to stay in the heart of this riverside rural village, surrounded by local people and farmers and experience what life is like here day to day. Due to its central location, villagers are likely to stop for a chat giving you the chance to practise your Bulgarian and interact with the community.
  
  We are both learning Bulgarian 🇧🇬 and are able to share with you what we know and help you to practise this in local shops. We can also share what we have learnt so far about the culture here and likewise you can share with us what you have learnt about other cultures on your travels.
  
  It is a busy village with a weekly market and occasionally there are events in the village and surrounding areas which we can take you along to to further enrich your experience here.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for someone who has experience with gardening and landscaping who can help with weeding, mowing, strimming, grassing and planting trees.
  The land was cleared before we owned it for a solar panel project and we want to reintroduce the trees along the fence line to provide both privacy and shaded areas.
  We have some fencing mesh to put up and need help creating the gravel driveway.
  There may be minor painting jobs to assist with and creating a couple of new gate entrances to the property as well as possible general maintenance and assistance around the property.
  
  We are looking for someone who can work unsupervised at times, has initiative and who will be able to bring new ideas 💡 to help us kick start a lovely outside oasis to continue to build on.
  
  As this is a business venture, and as we live elsewhere we are able to pay an amount which matches the minimum wage in Bulgaria which will help to pay for food as you will need to cook and prepare your own meals.
  
  We are happy to consider up to two people.

  Unterkunft

  We are offering the whole self contained house for the duration of your stay.
  You will also have the bathroom to yourselves.
  The beds and bedding are clean and all brand new as no one has yet stayed here.
  It is fully kitted out with cooking facilities and you will need to prepare and cook your own food.
  We do provide basic supplies when you first arrive such as tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, eggs, pasta, rice, salt, pepper, cooking oil, water 💧 etc

  There are fantastic walks in the area and of course the River Danube to enjoy. We do know there are buses but we have never used them but we will help point you in the right direction if you want to use them.
  It is a quiet village so it's a place to relax and enjoy being in nature rather than partying.
  No smoking in the house. We have provided an ashtray outside should you need it.

  Campers and motorhomes welcome. We do not have an elsan point or anywhere to empty a toilet so you would need to do this before arrival. There is an outdoor tap so you are welcome to fill up with water 💧

  Yes. The outside space is mostly enclosed but you would need to make sure they are not getting out as there is livestock nearby. They are welcome at the house but not on the beds.
