  About us, our home and our town
  Hello everyone
  We are a mixed nationality family, Japanese (Kana, female, 43y) and Spanish (Javier, male, 43) and we live in a small little fishermen’s village in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido. Before living here, we lived in large cities like Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, Boston, Madrid, etc. We are a well travelled couple in our early 40s.
  
  We are looking for a female, au-pair/child supporter to join our family and spend some quality time in our newly built beautiful house (2025) facing the sea and have 2 small boys, Antonio Ruy who was born in 2022 and Salvador Leo who was born in 2025.
  Ruy, as well call him, is 4 and full of energy. He is a very inquisitive boy, curious and vocal about what he likes and does not like and, as we write these lines, he is into puzzles, legos, insects and Minecraft blocks. He tends to start sleeping around 8.30-9PM after we tell him a story, where he is, naturally, the protagonist. His main language is English, followed by Japanese, Spanish and Chinese Mandarin. He tends to wake up around 6 AM
  
  Salvador, who is 1, is also full of energy , is a good baby boy, starts to also show personality and mamble words and who m, so far, sleeps around 6.30 PM. He tends to wake up around 6 AM.
  
  At home, we speak English (common), Spanish (dad) and Japanese (mom) and given the work styles of both parents, we are seeking an au pair/children companion person to spend time with us, help us care for our children some times during the weekdays and weekends while also enjoying living in this beautiful country and unique village of　Shira, Hokkaido.(北海道白老町)
  
  Our village is around 1 hour drive to Sapporo (main city) or around 75 minutes by train. There are language schools in a city called Tomakomai and Muroran, which are around 25-30 mins drive from our home.
  
  There are bus stops and train stops in walking distance to our home which can take you there through a couple of interchanges.
  
  We are open to all nationalities; however, we aim to ensure our children are exposed either to Spanish OR Chinese languages directly. We are, however, ok if you don’t speak either Spanish or Chinese. We believe English is something they will learn naturally from us as we speak it at home, and Japanese is something they will find in their respective nurseries, friends, etc.
  Also, we really look, at minimum, for someone who will stay with our family for at least 3-4 weeks, ideally 6 or more. We think this is the minimum for both parties to get to know each other and for our children not be to too confused.
  
  As our Au Pair/child support person, you´d be part of our family. If you want, we will bring you on some of our short trips around Hokkaido or Japan, we will bring you to the market with us, etc. Also, we will be happy to sit down with you anytime you want, have a coffee, chat, etc. We will let you take the initiative on that.

  What we will provide you with:
  ● A nice, warm mixed lively family! 😊
  ● Private room with shared toilet/bath/shower, utilities covered, wifi internet available throughout the home
  ● Food 3x times per day (you can cook the food yourself, we will provide you with the ingredients). We will have fruits and breads in the living room available
  ● Washing machine available for you to use anytime and drying area
  ● If you decide to rent your own car, we can provide you with a free parking space in front of our home. However, we will not pay your car rental fee.
  ● Monthly allowance of 50,000 Japanese yen
  What we can not provide:
  ● Working holiday visa or any other visas you may need to be in Japan
  ● Flights
  ● Language classes fees
  ● Health insurance while you are here (International or Japanese one)
  ● Transport fees (bus, train, car, etc.)

  Arbeit

  Where we need your help and when
  Weekdays (Monday to Friday, school days)
  
  ● Kids usually wake up around 6 AM and we will take care of them initially until you start helping us. You can join us from breakfast but you don’t have to.
  ● If both Kana and Javier are home, then please from around 8 am to 9 am, help us clean the living room, 2nd floor, put diapers in garbage, move chairs to let the robot clean, clean overall kitchen and help us hang clothes from washing machine. Clean also the hair from the stairs and also try and organize Ruy’s bedroom from the previous night play (puzzle, Legos, etc). We estimate your housekeeping help in the morning should take no more than 1 hour
  ● If one of us is traveling, then please continue helping us from 7.30 am to 8.30 am with the same tasks.
  ● Around +-8.30AM to +- 4.30PM the kids are in nursery, so you are free to do what you want (study, read, gym, etc.) We will likely be in the home working and you can use any space in the home, the living room, movie projector. your room, etc.
  ● From +-5 PM to 8.30 PM, help us with the children. Particularly, we will be with the children from around 5 PM to around 6.30 PM as we give them food, bathe them, put the small one to bed, etc
  ● From around 6.30 PM to 8.30 PM, we ask that you play with the older boy yourself, ideally in his room, so that we can have a quiet dinner and discussion.
  ● If we ask you for extra help after 8.30 PM on weekdays, we will compensate that with 500 JPY per extra hour (Which normally only happen once a week or less)
  ● We have housekeeping services once a week who will help us do a deep clean of the house. You are not expected to do deep cleaning, but expect to maintain the areas you mainly use and keep them hygienic (One toilet next to your bedroom, and a shared sink- kids only use it for washing their hands)
  
  Weekends (Saturday , Sunday or non school days)
  
  ● You will get 1 full day free for you, normally Sundays but we can make it Saturday also. Let’s just talk about it a few days in advance and confirm
  ● You can also exchange the full free day in the weekend for a full free day in weekday if you prefer. Just let us know in advance.
  ● On the other weekend day (likely Saturdays), we would like to receive 5-6 hours of your help maybe playing with the children, talking to them, etc.
  ● If we ask you for extra help (beyond those 5-6 hours )during the weekend with the children, we will pay you 1000 JPY per hour

  Important information/reminder
  ● We seek people who will stay with our family minimum 3-4 weeks, ideally 6.
  ● One of the main reasons we want to receive an au pair in our home is to give more language and people exposure to our children. To that effect, please, kindly use your main mother tongue with our children as much as possible.
  ● We live in a small fishing village called Hagino-Shiraoi, in the beautiful north of Japan, Hokkaido. This is NOT a big city like Tokyo or Osaka, so please, be aware of that before you join us. Understand that local transport, restaurants, shops are more or less limited. We encourage you to also go to Google Maps and check things around, transport options, etc.
