Help out on our small farm in Munka-ljungby, Sweden

  Beschreibung

  We are Joan and Molle who lives on a small farm in south of Sweden with horses, bees and a cat. We moved here summer-16 but a lot is still in the beginning, or at least the plans are developing and we still wants to do a lot. We are making beautiful garden and ecologic vegetable garden where we try to grow all the vegetables we need. The buildings are old so there is need for renovate and paint a lot.
  
  In the vegetable garden there are three greenhouses and we've built a big wooden box for growing and filled it with dry grass, manure and soil. And then we have a lot of small boxes for growing in. Out in the field there is also a big area for potatoes, onions, carrots and pumpkins. Our goal is to grow all our vegetables and this season the plan is to get started with sweet potatoes both in a greenhouse and on the field.
  
  The hens died during an attack from a marten two years ago, and it was so hard on us so there has been none since that. But now we're about to get ready to start over. So planning of where to put the new chicken house and area are ongoing, and hopefully getting built this season.
  
  The farm is in a beautiful area with forest and lakes and many hours can be spent in the nature both during the volunteering and on freetime on your own. You can come around whit bicycle or of course walking. If you plan to go the city we will take you to the bus.
  
  THIS SUMMER !
  We are fixing some of the boxes for growing vegetables, replacing and painting with the Swedish falufärg (red paint), fixing fences, doing everything regular in gardening. There is always open for something to make it a nicer place, just waiting for ideas to come or maybe you bring them =)
  It´s also time to get a new dog in the house, it will be a grownup and probably a Basenji.

  Was ist das?

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  We like to talk with other people and learn about how things work out in other countries, cultures and likewise. In our house there is room for playing and singing all kinds of music. We are involved in the swedish folk music as well, and do a lot of singer songwriter kind of music when we want to.
  
  We are definitely not off-grid but we like the ideas of it and work towards it. Solar energy systems is now connected , taking care of rainwater, recycling systems and so. We´re sorting trash, recycling and composts as far as possible.
  
  Our life is relaxed though working all day long, we like to be in motion. We also like to hang out with neighbors or friends and you will be a part of whatever we do. We are experienced in having woofers going back many years, and now for the last eight years it's been workawayers staying here. Everyone have liked it and felt good taking care of, so we guess that its easy to get a home feeling for you.   Arbeit

  All kind of different help is needed both inside the house and outdoor. This season we will arrange a new workshop, the wooden walls need paint. Gardening is always needed and everything else that goes on at a farm. We are doing the projects together, you will be joining us in our dayly life and help out with whatever we're in to at the time.
  
  
  The new place for the chickens will hopefully find it´s place, a nice project. and make indoor environment for about 15 individuals. A big outdoor area will be fenced.
  In june we harvest the first honey for the year and hopefully there will be a lot. Then the hay needs to be taken and the vegetable season begins with also a lot of taking care of and preserving.
  
  There is often music going on at our farm or at the neighbors place. We like to play together and exchange or just jam with others. All kind of music is welcome to our ears.
  
  
  As it is now, we're two people living here and we expect you to make dinner every third day -if you come alone, and if its possible we like to taste something typical from your country, but also we accept very easy made dinner =)
  If you're a person who really likes to cook we are happy to let you for as much as you want =)

  Since your stay at our farm is so tight with the family there is always talking about words or how to say something on swedish.

  Unterkunft

  We have no room for volunteers during winter or cold time.
  We have a nice caravan for you to sleep in =) and we have a bed inside the house as well.
  Bathroom and toilet is in the main building. We like to have some quiet in our house during the night, so hopefully you like to sleep at nighttime. No smoking indoor is allowed.

  Was noch ...

  Our farm is located about 120m above sea level, up in a forest area, we have beautiful nature and lakes nearby. It's 12 km to the nearest shop, and 8 km to the bus. We don't go to the city very often, so you will be mostly here if you don´t take a trip on your own.
  We have good internet access but only in and close to the main building.

  There is place for your own van if you want to, and if you need internet you'd be best of in the main house where there if fibreconnection whit the net.
