  I'm an artist painter living with a couple of cats in a quiet little place some 1h30-drive south of Paris, bordering a forest famous for its boulder rocks. The property has a large wild garden that is slowly being redesigned and an outbuilding that's almost complete as an art studio. I could do with some help developing and maintaining the outdoor space. You would be doing tasks either alone, or with myself or occasionally someone more skilled. This exchange probably suits best people who enjoy the outdoors (walking hiking climbing), or would like to practice art together (sketching drawing painting).

  Artiste peintre, je vis avec deux chats dans un petit coin tranquille du sud francilien, en bordure d'une forêt célèbre pour ses chaos rocheux. La propriété a un terrain un peu sauvage qui est lentement en train d'être redessiné, ainsi qu'une dépendance dont la conversion en studio d'artiste est quasiment terminée. J'aurais besoin d'aide pour aménager et entretenir l'espace extérieur. Vous travailleriez soit seul, soit avec moi-même ou occasionnellement avec quelqu'un de plus qualifié. Cet échange convient probablement mieux aux personnes qui aiment le plein air (marche randonnée escalade) ou qui souhaiteraient pratiquer ensemble de l'art (esquisse dessin peinture).

  For art lovers we can draw together (and I can give you some advice if you wish). I speak English fluently. I tend to be busy daytime, we can share mealtimes, spend evenings together, go out at the weekends. I like rock scrambling in the forest, going to local gigs, attending art exhibition open days, playing petanque (French boules, I'm very amateur! but there are some serious players in the village).

  Pour les amateurs d'art on peut dessiner ensemble (et je peux vous donner quelques conseils si vous le souhaitez). Je parle anglais couramment. En général je suis occupée durant la journée, nous pouvons partager les repas, passer les soirées ensemble, sortir les week-ends. J'aime crapahuter dans les rochers en forêt, sortir en concert local, aller voir des vernissages, jouer à la pétanque (très amateur ! mais il y a des passionnés dans le village).

  Arbeit

  This year's projects are almost entirely garden related. The garden is still quite rough, with slow progress in the creation of a shed, pond, vegetable patch, simple paths and low walls. Skilled tasks like the shed and part of the veg garden are not always on the menu, as they are being managed by some friends who work here only occasionally. Then there are one-off tasks that we can do together, for example planting some fruit trees, or re-structuring the upper part of the pond. Everything else is maintenance tasks that I am otherwise doing myself, such as shredding branches, levelling/modelling the ground in places, tidying corners, sanding gates, part mowing and weeding (seasonal).
  Outdoor help, great. What if it rains? I will try to keep a list of some indoor tasks.
  The house should be undergoing some works this year with specialised contractors. While these are not scheduled yet, they will impact on my ability to house people, therefore I cannot always plan or answer requests much ahead.

  Les projets de cette année sont presque entièrement liés au jardin. Celui-ci est encore assez brut, avec des lents progrès dans la création d'un abri, d'un bassin, d'un potager, d'allées simples et de murets. Les travaux qualifiés comme le hangar et une partie du potager ne sont pas toujours au menu, car ils sont gérés par des amis qui ne travaillent ici qu'occasionnellement. Ensuite il y a des travaux ponctuels que nous pouvons réaliser ensemble, par exemple planter des arbres fruitiers, ou restructurer la partie supérieure de l'étang. Tout le reste est des travaux d'entretien que je fais seule, comme le broyage des branches, le nivellement/modelage du sol par endroits, le rangement des coins, le ponçage des portillons, la tonte partielle et le désherbage (en saison).
  Travail en extérieur, super. Et s'il pleut ? Je vais essayer de garder une liste de quelques travaux en intérieur.
  La maison devrait faire l'objet de travaux cette année avec des entrepreneurs spécialisés. Ceux-ci auront un impact sur ma capacité à loger les gens, et comme ils ne sont pas encore programmés je ne peux pas toujours planifier ou répondre aux demandes de séjour longtemps à l'avance.

  Unterkunft

  We share the house with two cats, there is a single bedroom on the ground floor and a double upstairs (not available in winter and not available when roof insulatin works will occur). NB: there is no tv or wifi, internet access can be done via my phone's hotspot if you have no data. Except for the village bakery, a car is needed to go shopping in town (I drive there about 2-3 times a week, sometimes some carshare is available).

  Nous partageons la maison avec deux chats, il y a une chambre simple au rez-de-chaussée ainsi qu'une double à l'étage (pas dispo en hiver ni durant les travaux d'isolation de toiture). NB : ni tv ni wifi, l'accès internet peut se faire en partage de connexion avec mon téléphone si vous n'avez pas de data. Pour les magasins, hormis une boulangerie il faut aller en ville en voiture (j'y vais environ 2-3 fois par semaine, sinon il peut y avoir du covoiturage).

  If you have a car there is plenty to do in the surrounding area: discover some pretty villages, walks and bouldering in the forest, cultural or musical outings (depending on the time of year). Otherwise I can drive you into town (ideally not every day!) to take the train/bus, for a day out in Paris for instance. We can also share outings or activities together.

  Si vous avez une voiture il y a beaucoup à faire dans les environs : découvrir de jolis villages, des balades et du bouldering en forêt, des sorties culturelles ou musicales (selon les périodes de l'année). Sinon je peux vous conduire en ville (dans l'idéal pas tous les jours !) pour prendre le train/bus, pour une journée à Paris par exemple. Nous pouvons aussi partager des sorties ou activités ensemble.
