  There’s a small home where time follows the rhythm of the seasons, bare feet are welcome, and smiles often come with a bit of soil or sand. That’s where we live: Carlo, Olga, and little Río.
  
  /// I’m Carlo, 43 years old. I work in the digital world as a social media and growth hacking manager, but whenever I can, I escape the screen to explore real places and stories. I’m fascinated by old legends, ghost tales, and mysterious places. Ska music has been with me forever, and wherever there’s a dog, I’m probably nearby.
  
  /// I’m Olga, 38 years old, and I see the world through creative and curious eyes. I studied fashion design, but that world never felt quite right for me. I chose a slower, more meaningful path: sustainable fashion, upcycling, and handmade crafts like embroidery and weaving. Lately, I’ve been diving into the cycles of the female body, learning about hormones and natural rhythms. I love getting lost in a good book, I’m slowly (and happily) getting into yoga, and I’m passionate about exploring permaculture – not only in the garden, but as a way of life.

  Welcome to Our Olive Grove in Santa Maria di Licodia!
  We are Carlo, Olga, and Río – an Italian-Spanish family with a deep desire to live more simply, more sustainably, and more in tune with the land.
  
  Two years ago, we decided to leave the hustle behind and move to Santa Maria di Licodia, at the foot of Mount Etna. Here, on a small piece of land full of potential, we began our journey into regenerative living.
  We grow the food we eat with the intention of caring for our health, our bodies, and the soil that supports us. We practice regenerative agriculture – not as experts, but as curious learners. We’ve had some small wins and a fair share of failed experiments, and each one teaches us something new.
  
  For a year and five months now, we’ve also been parents to little Río. He’s slowed down the pace of our farm work, but has given us even more motivation to create a healthy and nourishing environment – for him, for us, and for anyone who shares this space with us.
  
  Our olive grove – which is also a fruit orchard, vegetable garden, and gathering place – isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life.
  We don’t use chemicals, and in addition to olives, we grow various other plants and experiment with different sustainability practices.
  
  We love music (even if we can’t play any instruments), being in nature, playing cards, and sharing good food with good people.
  We welcome anyone who feels called to get their hands in the soil, live simply, and share a piece of this journey with us.

  Benvenuti nel nostro uliveto a Santa Maria di Licodia!
  Siamo Carlo, Olga e Río – una famiglia italo-spagnola con il desiderio profondo di vivere in modo più semplice, sostenibile e vicino alla terra.
  
  Due anni fa abbiamo deciso di cambiare vita, lasciandoci alle spalle la frenesia per trasferirci a Santa Maria di Licodia, ai piedi del vulcano Etna. Qui, su un terreno pieno di potenziale, abbiamo iniziato il nostro progetto di vita rigenerativa.
  Coltiviamo il cibo che mangiamo con l’idea di prenderci cura della nostra salute, del nostro corpo e della terra che ci ospita. Pratichiamo agricoltura rigenerativa, cercando di migliorare il suolo giorno dopo giorno, esperimento dopo esperimento – a volte con successo, a volte con errori da cui impariamo con umiltà.
  
  Da un anno e cinque mesi siamo anche genitori di Río, che ha rallentato un po’ il ritmo del lavoro nei campi, ma ci ha regalato un’enorme motivazione in più: quella di costruire un ambiente sano e fertile, dentro e fuori di noi.
  
  Il nostro uliveto – che è anche frutteto, orto e luogo di incontri – non è solo un lavoro, ma uno stile di vita.
  Non usiamo prodotti chimici, e oltre agli ulivi coltiviamo tante altre piante, esplorando nuove pratiche legate alla sostenibilità e all’autoproduzione.
  
  Ci piace ascoltare musica (anche se non sappiamo suonare nessuno strumento!), stare nella natura, giocare a carte e condividere buon cibo con gli amici.
  Accogliamo con piacere chi ha voglia di vivere per un po’ con i piedi nella terra, le mani attive e il cuore aperto.

  Here in the land you can expearience the simple life, without rush or loud noise. Following the rythm of nature and the sun. Bird watching and listening to their beautiful singing, the sound of the water at night that flows from the village fountaing into the canal.
  Here it's all about cultural exchange. As a multicultural family we still discover eveyday new ways of life from each other.
  We love arts, crafts, (Olga is a textile sustainable artist and love weaving and embroidery),reading a good book, dancing with Rìo, look at the stars or simply enjoy the beautiful sunsets here.
  We are always up for a good conversation meanwhile we cook or eat a homemade meal. We are learning to preserve our food, so anything about food transformation, fermentation ecc is welcome and we are looking forward to learn about your experience with this or other new things that you want to share with us

  Da noi puoi sperimentare la vita semplice, senza fretta o rumori forti. Seguendo il ritmo della natura e del sole. Osservando gli uccelli e ascoltando il loro bel canto, il suono dell'acqua di notte che scorre dalla fontana del paese nel canale.
  Qui è tutto uno scambio culturale. Come famiglia multiculturale scopriamo ancora ogni giorno nuovi modi di vivere gli uni dagli altri.
  Amiamo l'arte, l'artigianato, (Olga è una astirsta tessile interessata alla sostenibilità, li piace tessere in telaio e ricamare a mano),leggere un buon libro, ballare con Rìo, guardare le stelle o semplicemente godersi i bellissimi tramonti qui.
  Siamo sempre disponibili per una bella conversazione mentre cuciniamo o mangiamo un pasto fatto in casa. Stiamo imparando a conservare il nostro cibo, quindi qualsiasi cosa sulla trasformazione del cibo, fermentazione ecc. è benvenuta e non vediamo l'ora di conoscere la tua esperienza con questa o altre cose nuove che vuoi condividere con noi

  Arbeit

  We offer an immersive experience, where we can learn (both you from us and us from you) and contribute to a sustainable living project.
  Mainly we need help playing and having time with our son, but at our home, you can experience picking olives, learn to weave on a loom or create a marketing campaign =)
  Volunteers can expect to be involved in a series of activities, such as:
  - Harvesting olives and other fruits and veggies
  - Babysitting for our child Rio
  - Pruning and planting
  - Bio-construction and irrigation
  - Cleaning the land and repairing stuff
  - Taken care of the chickens, dogs and cats. Feeding them and cleaning the chickens coop
  
  We don't require specific skills, but a positive attitude is always welcome. If you have experience in pruning, bio-construction or other activities, you will certainly be an added value!

  Offriamo un'esperienza immersiva, dove poter imparare (sia voi da noi che noi da voi) e contribuire a un progetto di vita sostenibile.
  Abbiamo bisogno soprattuto di un/a volontario/a che giochi e trascorra del tempo con nostro figlio.
  Pure a casa nostra si può vivere l'esperienza di raccogliere le olive, come imparare a tessere sul telaio o fare una campagna di marketing =)
  I volontari possono aspettarsi di essere coinvolti in una serie di attività, come:
  - Raccolta di olive e altre colture
  - Babysitting per il nostro bambino Rio
  - Potatura e piantumazioni
  - Bio-costruzione e irrigazione
  - Pulizie della campagna e riparazioni varie
  - Cura delle galline, cani e gatti. Portarli il cibo e pulire il pollaio
  
  Non richiediamo competenze specifiche, ma una attitudine positiva è sempre ben gradita. Se avete esperienza in potatura, bio-costruzione o altre attività, sarete sicuramente un valore aggiunto!

  Unterkunft

  Volunteers will be hosted in our camping tents inside our olive grove, with access to essential and sustainable services, including:
  . The tent has a mattress on the ground, pillows and a small piece of furniture or hanger for your clothes
  . Compost toilet
  . Hot shower (in the house) or outdoor shower
  . Common kitchen
  . Wi-Fi (only in the vicinity of the main structure)
  . Washing machine
  . Natural swimming pond
  . Swing and books for free time
  
  We have a total capacity of 3 beds: one double tent and one single tent.
  Don't worry, we will provide you with sheets and warm covers. In Sicily there is a very pleasant temperature in the autumn and spring months, and very mild winters. However, summers can be very challenging with very high temperatures.
  You will need to bring your own towel for the shower or for bathing in the natural swimming pond.
  We recommend you bring a flashlight because in the evening there is only light around the house.
  
  We can also host you if you want to come with your camper van.
  
  In addition to these , we also offer 3 meals per day so you can taste dishes prepared with local ingredients and, when possible, grown directly in our olive grove. This is a great opportunity to share moments together and get to know our culture and culinary traditions better, including Olga's Spanish one.
  
  Because we have a baby we usually have dinner early. We'll also provide in the kitchen tea, coffee and infusions to take whenever they want.
  
  We will all participate in daily life activities such as cooking, setting and clearing the table, washing dishes, and tiding up the house, etc.

  I volontari saranno ospitati nelle nostre tende di campagna all'interno del nostro uliveto, con accesso a servizi essenziali e sostenibili, tra cui:
  . La tenda dispone di un materasso appoggiato a terra, cucini e un piccolo mobile o appendino per i vostri vestiti
  . Bagno secco
  . Doccia calda (in casa) o doccia all'aperto
  . Cucina comune
  . Wi-Fi (solamente nei dintorni della struttura principale)
  . Lavatrice
  . Laghetto balneabile
  . Altalena e libri per il tempo libero
  
  Abbiamo una capacità totale di 3 posti letto: una tenda doppia e una tenda singola.
  Non vi preoccupate, vi forniremo delle lenzuola e delle coperte calde, in Sicilia c'è una temperatura molto gradevole nei mesi di autunno e primavera, e inverni molto leggeri. Le estati possono essere però molto impegnative con temperature molto alte.
  
  Dovrete portare voi il vostro asciugamano per la doccia o per farvi il bagno nel bio-laghetto.
  
  Vi raccomandiamo di portare una torcia perché di sera c'è solo luce intorno alla casa.
  
  Possiamo ospitarvi anche se volete venire con il vostro camper.
  
  Oltre a questo, offriamo 3 pasti al giorno ai nostri volontari, permettendo loro di gustare piatti preparati con ingredienti locali e, quando possibile, coltivati direttamente nel nostro uliveto.
  Questa è un'ottima occasione per condividere momenti insieme e conoscere meglio la nostra cultura e tradizioni culinarie, anche quella spagnola di Olga.
  
  Poiché abbiamo un bambino a casa di solito andiamo la cena sarà presto. I volontari avranno a disposizione in cucina tè, caffè e infusi da prendere quando vogliono.

  Our Environment and House Rules
  
  All the wastewater from the house is recycled so it is not possible to use chemical hygiene products, please bring biodegradable products. If you don't have or don't want to bring them with you, we have handmade soaps, shampoo and homemade clay toothpaste available.
  
  We live in a very rural area, ideal for those who love tranquility and nature.
  Here are some house rules we ask you to respect:
  . No smoking in indoor spaces or tents and especially no smoking around Rìo
  . Maintain clean and order in the common spaces, the land and the places we offer you during your stay
  . Do not play loud music, we like music but we live with a small child and we don't want a rave inside the house. Let's have fun but with respect.
  
  
  Free Time Activities
  
  In your free time, you can enjoy the tranquility of country life or do various activities in the surroundings such as:
  - Sightseeing and nature walks
  - Visiting the city of Catania or Mount Etna
  - Outdoor sports
  
  
  Pets
  
  We have a small "family" of pets consisting of 6 dogs, 2 cats, and 7 chickens.
  Come only if you are animal lovers, the dogs are giant-sized and are free throughout the countryside. They are very sociable so they will follow you everywhere LOL. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate volunteers' pets.

  Il Nostro Ambiente e Regole della Casa
  
  Tutte le acque reflue della casa vengono riciclate perciò non è possibile usare dei prodotti di igiene chimici, per favore porta prodotti biodegradabili. Se non hai o non vuoi portarli con te, abbiamo a disposizione saponette artigianali, shampoo e dentifricio di argilla fatto a casa.
  Viviamo in un'area molto rurale, ideale per chi ama la tranquillità e la natura. Ecco alcune regole della casa che chiediamo di rispettare:
  . Non fumare negli spazi interni ne tende e sopratutto non fumare attorno a Rìo
  . Mantenere la pulizia e l'ordine della campagna, degli spazi comuni e i luoghi che ti offriamo durante la tua permanenza
  . Non suonare musica ad alto volume, ci piace la musica però conviviamo con un piccolo bambino e non vogliamo un rave dentro casa. Divertiamoci ma con rispetto.
  
  
  Attività di Tempo Libero
  
  Nel tempo libero, puoi goderti la tranquillità della vita campagnola o fare varie attività nei dintorni come:
  . Visite turistiche e passeggiate nella natura
  . Visitare la città di Catania o il vulcano Etna
  . Sport all'aria aperta
  
  
  Animali Domestici
  
  Abbiamo una piccola "famiglia" di animali domestici composta da 6 cani, 2 gatti, e 11 galline.
  Venite solo se siete amanti degli animali, i cani sono di taglia gigante e sono liberi per tutta la campagna. Sono molto socievoli quindi vi seguiranno ovunque LOL. Purtroppo, non possiamo accogliere gli animali domestici dei volontari.

  Margot is our baby cat. She is already grown up but we take good care of her because she is so delicate and shy. It is difficlut to she her around because usually she is hiden

  

  Hermes (1 Jahr)

  Hermes is Mojitos' brother. He is very calm and easy going dog. He loves agood run around the land.

  

  Lupin (8 Jahren)

  Lupin is a sweet and very firnedly cat. She loves to explore backpacks and she enjoys people company

  

  Mojito (1 Jahr)

  Mojito is our naughty dog. He loves playing around and stress our guest hahahaha. He always wantto be pet and he will follow you wherever you are =)

  

  Bellota (4 Jahren)

  She is very sweet and love people to pet her. Bellota has a lot of energy and loves to run and play all around the land

  

  Iside (9 Jahren)

  Iside is the mama dog. She is the wiser and older dog. SHe loves to stay close to us whatever we are doing and she loves to sit under the sun.
