  Hello! We are Santi & Dani, owners of an Eco Hostel in Caracoli, province of Antioquia, Colombia. Located at 625 meters above sea level, the hostel sits literally on a valley surrounded by lush green mountains, rivers, gorges, and the tropical moist forest.
  
  Our main focuses here are carpentry, supporting local traditions, working closely with local businesses, nature, and overall enhancing conscious tourism in and around Caracoli, a magical place off the beaten path.
  We aren’t vegan or vegetarian but we like to eat healthy, local food, using as much locally grown products as possible. In time, we hope the project will provide many of our dietary needs. We have a kitchen available for guests and volunteers alike, well equipped and we enjoy eating together. Our accommodations are warm and cosy, each one has a separate entrance, lockers, and handmade woody furniture all made by Santi, a carpenter – industrial designer. We use quality mattresses and bedding. Right outside the rooms, there is a patio with hammocks, colourful plants of all kinds, and a roundtable where you can eat, play cards and make good friends.
  In the surroundings there are multiple waterfalls, the tropical moist forest, the Nus Caves or Caverns, the Samana river canyon, mountains, fincas, you name it. In the future, our goal is to run almost entirely from such activities, always working closely with locals and reinvesting our revenues in the local economy.

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  Many things =). We have created an environment to make each person that comes here feel at home and surrounded by family. After all, we all come from the same source of light and creation. Whilst here, you will have the opportunity to improve and to learn about carpentry, hiking, artisanal jewellery creation, re-utilisations of dismissed materials, and perhaps most important, about the culture, the people and the history of this place. We regularly have activities such as hiking, rides in the motorrodillo, visits to local fincas and so on. People who arrive with something to share are encouraged to do it!

  Arbeit

  For us is really great if you have experience with English teaching or WebMarketing. The rest of the tasks mentioned above are due only sporadically, our priorities here are to improve the English language and our web presence.
  
  Currently we have many ongoing projects, although since our project is fairly young we are especially looking for volunteers with experience in English teaching, carpentry, web marketing, Wordpress and videomaking. We always have work in the garden adjacent to Santi’s carpentry building; planting trees, flowers, herbs and vegetables; help us in the hostel with cleaning tasks but also with tourist.
  
  What else ...
  All we ask is that our volunteers come with inspiration, enthusiasm, and motivation to better themselves and to share what they can with others around them. We enjoy teaching and learning on all levels, and we welcome everybody from all backgrounds to come and stay at our place!

  Unterkunft

  The accommodation provided for volunteers is a 4 bed shared dormitory in the main house. We have a good wifi connection, very confy bed, a great patio and a kitchen for all your needs.

  NUS CAVES
  With an area of 5.725 m2, the caves or caverns of the River Nus are just few hours away from Caracoli and are considered one of the most precious treasures of Antioquia. Within the area, in and out the trail, experience a unique biodiversity. From a tropical moist forest, to the awe view from the Samana river canyon, stalagmites, stalactites, and the impressive chambers inside the caves with heights up to 15m, you can adventure with us in the abyss of this wonderful world.
  
  BIRD WATCHING
  Your eyes are wide open, your senses are sharpened, patiently waiting for a blast of flying colours. While walking in and out the trails, surrounded by mountains, leaving behind meetings and bad coffee, you could spot different species of toucans, hummingbirds, Striped Manakins, sweet white-mantled barbet, and many more happy birds.
  
  THE COUNTRY – COMMUNITY TRAIL
  We are proud of our local heritage, of our people and of the land surrounding us. That’s why we work with local businesses which still push forward local traditions. Exploring not only the nature around but also the life of the people who live and work in the area, it’s an authentic *️️️️and fun*️️️️ way to learn about the community and its culture. For example, have you ever heard about Panela? Have you ever milked a cow? Do you know that you can catch cacao beans while almost reaching the speed of light in a sort-of-rollercoaster called Motorodillo?
  
  PANORAMIC VIEWS
  Breath in, breath out. Open your senses and let your mind rest, recharge your energy levels and drink a Jugo in town. No cars, no buses whatsoever, and very safely enjoy the simplicity of this area and look around everywhere you are to contemplate the natural richness and the landscape of this gentle mountain range.
  
  ADVENTUROUS ROUTES
  Venture yourself to nature every day. We offer several hiking experiences ranging from easy to challenging, bicycle touring and we can organize horseback rides with really sweet horses. Feel like hiking alone? Awesome! We are marking new trails every day, and are happy to share .gpx tracks with you .
  
  NORTH SAMANA RIVER
  Explore one of the purest and untouched river of Colombia. Immerse yourself in the magic vibes of the tropical moist forest, the perfect setting for nature lovers and a great source of biodiversity. In the Samana river canyon you might feel like a grain of sand witnessing the awes of nature, and you won’t be the only one!
