Toby is a nice kid, however in the three or.so weeks here he didn't volunteer to get involved in any of the activities we were hosting. We had 4 other crew here at the time who were keen and enthusiastic to be part of things and we're taking initiative. The last time Toby was asked to do a task which was to be an afternoon long task, after one

He showed very little initiative or communal spirit. When he departed, he left the crew accomodation with a vomit stain in the carpet for the other crew to clean up after him.
Toby stayed with us over the Christmas NYE period where there were less structured activities. I think for future hosts, Toby would benefit from a highly structured environment.

I've worked at the garlic farm for two weeks and loved it. Dave is incredible he really likes to get to know you and has a great sense of humor. His family is aswell great very friendly and welcoming. I was allowed to use everything what is growing on their farm to cook like tomatos, herbs, garlic apples, and so on. I got an own sleeping room with

The work was easy to learn and for Dave it's just important that the work is done i worked a few times just in the evening and loved the freedom i had their. The surrunding area is great it lokes nearly as in the alps with big mountains around and a lot of green grass. Just twenty minutes away is ulverstone with beautiful beaches and a lot of opportunities tu go shopping.

We stayed at the Farm for five months from January and it was a great experience being part of a working family farm. Even though the Covid-19 lockdown happened during our stay, David, Felicity and Kaori made us feel very welcomed and told us we were able to stay as long as we needed to. Our time at the Farm coincided with the garlic packing
… read more season, and the paid work on the conveyer line was hard work but satisfying at the same time - a beer from the cooling room helped to wet dusty throats at the end of a shift! We spent an average of two hours a day helping for our board, which was a mixture of tasks from emu parading to crate making and deck building, and as the mornings grew colder we started later in the day to allow us (and Dave) a longer lay-in.
We picked up so many new skills along the way that we will be able to put to good use in the future, along with some sage wisdom and advice over multiple cups of tea from Rena and Neil, Dave's parents whose house is also on the property. David and his wonderful family always make you feel included, and Dave himself has a wicked sense of humour and a fountain of knowledge and life experience.
So many memories were made in Preston (with more than one involving alcohol and the nearby waterfall!) but some of the best evenings we had were spent around the fire with board games, ukeleles, and very competitive games of werewolf. The farm became our home away from home and we certainly hope to go back and visit everyone one day :)Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Garlic farm in Preston - what an experience! The original plan was to stay for 2 weeks, ended up staying 3 months and am grateful for every single day. Even if on some days there was a lot of garlic to pack, Dave's jokes and cheerful mood helped to easily get through it. I enjoyed being a farm girl and having the opportunity to see how things work

THANKS to the whole family for being super kind and easy-going, making me feel at home especially in times of covid. The farm is an extraordinary place as not only you have contact with the family but also with other volunteers - we used to go hiking, played board games ... the evenings spent in the retreat together were unforgettable.
I will keep many beautiful memories of the farm and will remember you all every time I peel garlic <3

Sonja is awesome. She is very conscientious, smart, organized, calm and easy going. It was a pleasure to spend time with her. Wow, what a family away from home. Best decision ever to stay at the farm! Thank you so much, David, Kaori, Felicity, both Grandparents, and the kids. I've got a working holiday visa and worked around 15-25 hours a week at the garlic line (sorting and packing, sometimes cracking) and for about 2 hours workaway work (from Monday to Friday), which was a great opportunity to get to know the farm better, work outside like harvesting, sawing, and other little jobs. I've learned so much and will ever be grateful! I stayed in a cute and cozy wood cabine with another workaway girl.
David, the farmer is just a great mate: relaxed, fair, sooo funny, hard-working always eager to help, and makes everyone as happy as possible.
Thank you so much for a truly memorable experience! All the best to all of you!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

David, Felicity, and Kaori are wonderful hosts. They were very friendly, had interesting stories, and an excellent sense of humor. The food was excellent and generous. My accommodation was spacious, and quiet but did require some minor cleaning. Their children were a lot of fun to hang out with and they brought good energy on their home.

… read more farm is a beautiful and relaxing place. It was very enjoyable to work there. They have accomplished a lot. David has a lot of skills and I learned a lot about building standards for timber construction. My tasks included stacking lumber that was freshly cut on their mobile saw mill, cleaning, weeding, building trellises, fixing water sprinklers, and building a washing room near their garden beds.
The was plenty to do nearby in our free time. I enjoyed driving around, bushwalking, caving, and playing board games with other helpers and their family.
It was an incredible farm experience.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

INCREDIBLE. I love this Farm and think of this gem of a place frequently! The lack of feedback by the numbers really does not properly reflect this well-established volunteering haven. This is a place full of great people, great food and fun.
