Hello, my name is Sandra. I live in the North of Spain in the coastal town of Liencres. It is 15 minutes from the beautiful city of Santander by car or bus. The beach is within walking distance (5 mins). I live in a house with a small yard android a pool. I have three children, an 14 year old boy, a 16 year old girl, and a 18 year old boy. I would like to have a young person 20-30 years old) come who wants to spend a few months at our home. They would help the family out, speak english,l (you must know how to swim), keep the house orderly and clean as your own house. The family gets up and has breakfast around 7.00h... The children then go to school .You can have free the morning time until the kids get home about 18:00 h...they are autónomy. If the kids don't need you then you will obviously have free time weekend... We want you to be as comfortable as possible. We don't smoke, we prefer that you don't either. You have the Santander Airport from 15 minutes to home and Bilbao Airport from 1 hour to home.We are ready to welcome you with enthusiasm into our home!

Here in Santander we have a very good medical services.

If you are member of an European country please get from your national health insurance provider the European health insurance card and bring it with you

If you are not, you should get a personal insurance policy in your country to cover any unexpected medical care.

Vom Workawayer (Workaway-Mitglied) für Host

I spent 4 months living here in the region of Cantabria, Spain. Wah! What a special area. Liencres has a beautiful broken coastline, with amazing spots for walking and surfing (that's if the water isn't too cold!). The city of Santander is near, with a beautiful bay and Spanish language classes if you're keen. I would recommend 'Delta language… read more school' (a little expensive but good teachers). The night life is a bit quiet, but better in surrounding cities like Bilbao and San Sebastián.

Sandra and Augustín were very welcoming and helpful.. with local recommendations and especially when I had car troubles. I spent my 30th birthday, Christmas and New Years Eve with them and I felt very welcome. Sandra and Augustín have a very special love for one another, which makes for a happy household. Mauro, Olea and Romeo, were obviously the people I spent most time with in the house. They took a little while to warm up to me but after 4 months I feel they were more comfortable around me. Romeo is a bit shy but very respectful, honest and has a heart of gold. Olea is a typical teenage girl coming of age. Learning herself with confidence and autonomy. I shared a room with Olea and came to know her well. She is very clever with her head on her shoulders and will accomplish a lot in life. Mauro is the youngest and with that comes a bit more disobedience. However, he is super super cute and made me smile when I was having hard days.

Lastly, I feel that many reviews only ever express the good, so I'm going to be completely honest and let other workawayer's know the hard parts also. I found it difficult sharing a room. Late nights and broken sleep and no personal space. However, if you're a good sleeper, maybe it won't be a problem for you.
Also, at the beginning I found it hard to know when I was working and when I was not. Maybe it was a personal thing, but I often couldn't relax in the home in my free time. In saying this, I am also very grateful for the flexibility and free time that was provided by Sandra. And towards the end I did feel more comfortable and less stressed. Therefore, I think it's important to know from the beginning the hours you work and the hours you can relax at home, as that's important for health and happiness.

I wish all the best for the family and hope the kids grow to be happy and successful in whatever they wish to pursue!
