  We live in a small town called Château-Chinon in the heart of the Morvan national park area. We're right in the center of town so you have quick access to cafes, bakery, supermarket, etc, but within ten minutes walk you can be in the forest or hiking through beautiful farmland. The area is stunningly beautiful and historic. The town has been inhabited since the Gauls (pre-Roman) who had a lookout here and there used to be a castle here in medieval times. These days it's pretty quiet and is mainly a regional hub for farmers (Charolais beef is the main local specialty) and a small number of tourists. It's a very rewarding place to go walking, its on top of a big hill so there are great views and the streets zigzag around each other in interesting ways. We have accumulated ten cats who live in our apartment with us and they form a kind of cat colony. They are an amazing and hilarious bunch, kind of a handful sometimes but so so rewarding. They need food and love and pets and they will love you with their whole hearts in return.

  You can experience life in a working rural French town in Burgundy. Go down to the local cafes and hang out with the local characters, chat with the shopkeepers who run the bookstore or the bakery, visit the local museum, as you like. There are usually events happening in the region especially in summer, such as concerts, traditional dances, brocantes, and occasionally a big festival.

  Arbeit

  Stay in our apartment and care for our ten cats while we're away. Refresh food, water, and cat litter; keep certain cats from fighting other cats; pet and love the cats; play with them sometimes; generally be around and keep them company; watch out for health issues and be prepared to take them to the vet if needed.

  Unterkunft

  You'll be in our apartment while we're away. You'll sleep in our bedroom in the double bed. We have all the normal amenities, kitchen, shower, etc, it's our home. We'll provide an allowance of €15 per day so that you can buy food at the supermarket (5 min walk) and cook your own meals in our kitchen. There are a few restaurants in town as well if you prefer.

  Accessible by public transport. Train from Paris to Nevers, bus 4x/day from Nevers to Château-Chinon. World-class walking and hiking at your doorstep.
