  Hi! I’m Paul. My mother (who has deep rural roots) and I share a beautiful family dream: to transform our property of nearly 500 m² in La Merced (Valle de Los Chillos) into a future center for permaculture and traditional knowledge. The location is a very peaceful rural setting just outside Quito, famous for its climate, hiking trails, and hot springs.
  
  But to reach that major ecological goal, we need to start with the foundations!
  
  We are currently looking for "pioneer volunteers" to help us with Phase 1: Maintenance and Restoration. We are seeking practical, detail-oriented, and proactive individuals to help us scrape, sand, and paint walls and doors, deep-clean the spaces, and carry out basic home repairs.
  
  Since we don't live on-site full-time, you will enjoy a very special benefit in the world of volunteering: total privacy and independence.
  
  In exchange for 20 hours of help per week (scheduled with great flexibility so you have 3 days off), we offer you accommodation in a private suite all to yourself, high-speed internet, a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and all the weekly groceries needed to prepare your meals with complete freedom. Ideal for digital nomads, couples, or independent travelers.

Soy Paul. con mi madre (quien tiene profundas raíces campesinas), tenemos un hermoso sueño familiar: convertir nuestra propiedad de casi 500 m² en La Merced (Valle de Los Chillos) en un futuro centro de permacultura y saberes tradicionales. El lugar es un entorno rural muy tranquilo, a las afueras de Quito, famoso por su clima, senderos y aguas termales.
  
  Pero para llegar a ese gran objetivo ecológico, ¡necesitamos empezar por los cimientos!
  
  Actualmente buscamos a nuestros "voluntarios pioneros" para que nos ayuden con la Fase 1: Mantenimiento y Restauración. Buscamos personas prácticas, detallistas y con iniciativa que nos ayuden a raspar, lijar y pintar paredes y puertas, hacer limpieza profunda de los espacios y realizar reparaciones básicas del hogar.
  
  Al no vivir nosotros en el lugar a tiempo completo, disfrutarás de un beneficio muy especial en el mundo del voluntariado: total privacidad e independencia.
  
  A cambio de 20 horas de ayuda semanal (organizadas con gran flexibilidad para que tengas 3 días libres), te ofrecemos alojamiento en una suite privada entera para ti, internet de alta velocidad, baño propio, cocina equipada y todos los víveres semanales necesarios para que prepares tus comidas con total libertad. Ideal para nómadas digitales, parejas o viajeros autónomos.

  You’ll be part of the beginning of a family dream! My mother, who has Colombian rural roots, will be delighted to share her knowledge of the land and our vision of creating a permaculture center in the Andes.
  
  In addition to learning about maintenance, you’ll practice your Spanish with us (we offer language exchange) and enjoy the peace of the Los Chillos Valley. During your three days off, you’ll have plenty of time to explore La Merced, its famous hot springs, and local trails.
  
  ¡Serás parte del inicio de un sueño familiar! Mi madre, de raíces campesinas colombianas, estará encantada de compartir sus conocimientos sobre la tierra y nuestra visión de crear un centro de permacultura en los Andes.
  
  Además de aprender sobre mantenimiento, practicarás tu español con nosotros (ofrecemos intercambio de idiomas) y disfrutarás de la paz del Valle de Los Chillos. En tus 3 días libres tendrás tiempo de sobra para explorar La Merced, sus famosas aguas termales y senderos locales.

  Arbeit

  Our current priority (Phase 1) is getting the property ready. We are looking for help with deep-cleaning the small house, sanding and painting doors and walls, and basic repairs (DIY tasks). The role also includes light gardening (weeding and watering) to prepare the outdoor area.
  
  An incredibly attractive arrangement: We ask for just 20 hours a week (5 hours a day, 4 days a week), leaving you with 3 consecutive days off to travel and rest.
  
  Nuestra prioridad actual (Fase 1) es poner a punto la propiedad. Buscamos ayuda con la limpieza profunda de la casita, lijado y pintura de puertas/paredes, y reparaciones básicas (bricolaje). También incluye jardinería ligera (desyerbar y regar) para preparar el exterior.
  
  Esquema ultra-atractivo: Pedimos solo 20 horas semanales (5 horas al día, 4 días a la semana), dejándote 3 días libres consecutivos para que viajes y descanses.

  Unterkunft

  We offer a private, independent 30 m² guest house/suite for your exclusive use, set on a 400 m² plot. It features a bedroom, private bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and a workspace with fiber-optic internet (600 Mbps).
  
  In addition, we provide all the groceries for the week so you can prepare your own meals exactly as you like, with complete freedom.
  
  Ofrecemos una casita/suite privada e independiente de 30 m² a tu entera disposición en un terreno de 400 m². Cuenta con habitación, baño privado, cocina totalmente equipada y área de trabajo con internet de fibra óptica (600 Mbps).
  
  Además, nosotros proveemos todos los víveres semanales completos para que tú mismo te prepares tus comidas con total libertad y a tu gusto.

  Since our arrangement includes three consecutive days off each week, you’ll have plenty of time to explore! La Merced is a rural area renowned for its healing thermal springs and proximity to the Ilaló Volcano—an excellent spot for hiking and enjoying panoramic views. Plus, easily accessible public transport (buses) connects the property to the rest of the Los Chillos Valley and downtown Quito.
  
  Keep in mind that this is a standalone property where we do not reside full-time, so you’ll enjoy complete privacy and a restful atmosphere. We will maintain open communication via messaging to coordinate your tasks and the delivery of your groceries. It is the ideal retreat for independent individuals, couples, and digital nomads seeking the perfect balance between volunteering, remote work, and tourism!
  
  Como en nuestra propuesta tendrás 3 días libres consecutivos a la semana, ¡tendrás mucho tiempo para explorar! La Merced es un sector rural famoso por sus aguas termales curativas y su cercanía al volcán Ilaló, un lugar excelente para hacer senderismo y disfrutar de vistas panorámicas. Además, hay transporte público (buses) fácilmente accesible desde la propiedad que te conectará con el resto del Valle de Los Chillos y con el centro de Quito.
  
  Recuerda que es una propiedad independiente donde no vivimos a diario, por lo que disfrutarás de total privacidad para descansar. Mantendremos una comunicación fluida vía mensaje para coordinar tus tareas y la entrega de tus víveres. ¡Es el refugio ideal para personas autónomas, parejas y nómadas digitales que buscan un balance perfecto entre ayuda, trabajo remoto y turismo!

Restricción importante de ingreso: La puerta de entrada tiene un límite de altura estricto de 2.65 metros (8.69 pies) y un ancho de 3.50 metros. Es ideal para autos 4x4 con carpa de techo, SUVs, vans de techo estándar o truck campers. Vans de techo alto (como Sprinters altas) o RVs grandes no podrán ingresar por la altura.
