  A beachside home with a permaculture garden with chickens and views of the mountain and bush at Magnetic Island. My home is 400m from the beach so you can hear the waves breaking on the beach. There is a snorkel trail at the beach at the bottom of the street, wild koalas and lots of bush tracks to explore. Coral and tropical fish are visible about 20m from the water's edge at most beaches. There are stinger nets in the marine stinger season from October to April.

  I can show people bush tucker; beautiful bush tracks overlooking the ocean; the Great Barrier Reef; how to grow permaculture fruit and vegetables and how to look after free range organic chickens.

  Arbeit

  Someone with knowledge and experience enough to do tasks unsupervised to help in the garden and with home maintenance. Help includes weeding, pruning, changing the chickens' water and a bit of cleaning. A house rule is that after preparing food, guests wipe down kitchen benches and food preparation areas and rinse food residue from plates and cutlery before stacking in the dishwasher.

  Unterkunft

  Private room with a comfortable queen bed, built-in wardrobe, and a huge ceiling to floor wall to wall window overlooking the garden and a mountain ridge. The room is screened to keep out insects and has a ceiling fan. My home is also air conditioned. I manufactured my own brand of gourmet natural ice cream for a couple of years. It was if I may so, the most delicious ice cream I have ever tasted so the venture was successful and gained a fair bit of media coverage. I have also worked for others as a chef and had my own cafe so the food here is nutritious and quite delicious - mostly organic - thanks to my chickens and large permaculture garden. I am looking for caring and conscientious types of people who can provide evidence of skills such as how to plant trees and seeds, weed and basic home maintenance.

  Bus stops are at the bottom of the street and a doctor's surgery, chemist and shops are a short walk away. It is also about a 15 minute walk to the SeaLink ferry terminal that links the island to mainland Townsville. The ferry ride takes about 25 minutes. Coaches, trains and the airport are easily accessible to the ferry terminal. Coaches stop outside the mainland ferry terminal and a shuttle bus connects to the airport.

  This is a good location for digital nomads as it has internet and a small computer desk. My home is also around the corner from the Jungle Club which offers daily hire of office facilities where digital nomads can work and take breaks with coffee from the coffee cart and a dip in the Jungle Club pool.
