Beschreibung
We are a small group of families with homeschooling children, living among rice fields and forests in rural southern Hualien, Taiwan. Our community is in the early stages of developing a Donguri-club and Waldorf-inspired natural education program, rooted in daily life, seasonal rhythms, and close connection with nature.
Life here moves at a human pace, guided by children, weather, and seasons. Much of what we learn comes from simple, repeated work and shared time together. We support one another by noticing what is needed, offering help quietly, and staying open to learning from everyday moments and from each other.
At this stage, we have 3–7 children aged 5–7 years old. Much of their learning takes place outdoors and through hands-on experiences such as planting vegetables, preparing food, simple crafts, music, building small shelters, caring for the land, and free play. Adults support the children mainly through presence, imitation, and consistency.
We welcome volunteers who feel comfortable being patient, observant, and respectful with children. Skills such as cooking, art, music, or rice farming are appreciated, but more important is a willingness to take part in everyday life, help where needed, and learn alongside the children and families. This place suits people who are comfortable being beginners, participating in ordinary daily work, and living closely with others.
From time to time, Waldorf students, teachers, and kindergarten educators from western Taiwan visit to observe and support the program. We also welcome families with children aged 5–7 who resonate with this way of life and may wish to stay for several months or even settle in the area.
Our location is quite rural, so a valid driver’s license is necessary for transportation.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
Life here offers an opportunity to experience an eco-friendly way of living — from clothing and daily products to food choices. We also share knowledge and hands-on experience in a variety of natural and alternative health treatments.
Most importantly, volunteers are invited to observe and participate in our approach to raising children, which combines three philosophies: Donguli Club, Waldorf education, and Forest School influences.
By welcoming people from different backgrounds, we hope our children naturally learn about diversity, respect, and different ways of living in the world.
Projekte mit Kindern

Arbeit
Support may include a mix of the following, depending on daily and seasonal needs:
1. Children’s Activities
Supporting outdoor play, simple art, music, storytelling, and daily rhythms
2. Cooking & Food Culture
Cooking together and sharing simple dishes from your culture with the children
3. Cultural Exchange
Sharing everyday life, stories, and traditions in a natural and informal way
4. Farming & Gardening
Assisting with rice field tasks and maintaining the vegetable garden
Daily life here is slow, practical, and sometimes unclear. Tasks change with weather, children’s needs, and seasonal work. There are no fixed roles, and learning often happens by observing and helping rather than leading.
Work at our place is not like paid employment. It is participatory daily life: helping where help is needed, sharing meals, and joining routines together. We hope you’ll feel like a friend of the family.
We are looking for people who enjoy simple living, are willing to share ordinary routines, and can be respectful, calm, and open to learning from children, land, and family rhythms.
In your message, please tell us:
1. which areas you feel drawn to
2. what you are curious to learn or experience here
Specific skills are welcome, but we are especially interested in your heart for the community and the children.
For activities involving children, we hope you have some experience with children and basic first-aid knowledge.
